Our friend Joe Clarke – The Campervan Craftsman – has just finished this beautiful conversion… and it could now be yours! Imagine exploring NZ in this stunner! This would put a smile on your face whatever the weather.
All the interior woodwork is custom built by Joe and the gas, water, diesel heater, upholstery and electrical work has been carried out by qualified specialists. So let’s talk details…
It’s a 2010 LWB Fiat Ducato – diesel, 6 speed manual drive – with full service history and only 68k on the clock! Yep… it’s only just got started! It has remote central locking, reverser sensors and comes with two keys.
Joe imported the van from the UK and it’s been well maintained and regularly serviced. It drives very smoothly and has plenty of power for NZ roads. Up front there are two single seats and convenient access to the kitchen and living space from the cab… and that’s where the magic of this conversion starts as you walk through the stunning teal-coloured keyhole style arch.
The van has been insulated all round (with NZ sheep wool insulation on the walls and PIR board on the floor). It has vinyl floor coverings and gorgeous porthole windows – all with blackout curtains – and a variety of LED strip lights and spotlights.
When it comes to the kitchen, it’s superbly equipped with a Voyager gas cooker, grill and double hob (with external gas bottle locker) as well as a Waeco CRX80 compressor fridge with freezer compartment. There is a stainless steel sink/drainer with a beautiful handmade copper tap and look at those fabulous Acacia worktops with hand painted Mexican tile splash backs. Oh so quirky! There is loads of storage with a variety of cupboard spaces, drawers and overhead lockers, all fitted with quality soft close runners and hinges.
Another lovely teal decorative arch divides the kitchen from the living/bedroom area where you find a U-shaped seating area (with a removable swivel table) which converts into a bed that is kingsize width (165cm/5’6’) and 183cm/6’0” long. What a luxury! And if it gets chilly there’s an Eberspacher diesel heater (sharing fuel with the van) which is very economical and can run all night. It also blows cold air if needed so together with the skylight with 12v fan (which can blow air in or out) you can enjoy a nice breeze… so welcome on these warm nights!
You can plug in your devices and gadgets into the two USB sockets and 230v plug sockets (powered from pure sin wave 1500w inverter) and you can stay off-grid courtesy of the two 110w low profile solar panels on the roof and two 120ah leisure batteries (with three year warranty). There is also a split charge for the electrics that charges the leisure batteries as you drive.
Behind the scenes you can rest assured that all the electrics and gas meet the regulations. There’s an electric cupboard with easy access to fuse boards and master on/off switches and an external gas locker with Gas Safety Certificate. The van is certified self-contained (CSC) for two people, having 25L fresh and waste water containers and a portable toilet.
All this doesn’t come cheap but as they say you get what you pay for! This van is yours for $75k NZD (or nearest offer).
And of course, we’d be proud to list this van as part of the Quirky Campers NZ family – attracting customers who want to hire it out – which means you could be recouping your costs when you’re not using it and potentially break even in less than 5 years… all while you have your very own bach on wheels!
