As his owners (and name) suggest, Pēpē is the true baby of the family. His petite size offers exceptional efficiency, saving on both fuel and space so you can nip about Aotearoa with ease.
Despite Pēpē’s size, he certainly doesn't compromise on comfort. At night, his spacious seating transforms into a cosy sleeping space complete with soothing moody lighting. Surrounded by his tropical-feel furnishings and custom wooden cabinetry, you'll be so calm you won't want to leave!
Pēpē was clearly designed with outdoor enthusiasts in mind. Take him to the coast, grab his stand-up paddle board (available as an optional extra) and enjoy a stunning sunset on the water. Then slide out his side kitchen and cook up something tasty to enjoy under the shade of his awning. Want to go bigger? Just add the awning tent and triple your available floor space! Then when it’s time for bed, snuggle up and reward yourself with a blissful sleep.
Need we say more? Check him out for yourself!
Note: While Pēpē is currently certified self-contained, due to a law change he is NOT suitable for freedom camping after 7 December 2024 and from that date can only camp in paid camping areas (campsites, KiwiCamps, DOC camps etc.). However, please scroll to the top of this page and click the link in the yellow banner to find out more about freedom camping and self-contained vehicles… on reading the facts you might find there’s nothing to fear in hiring this vehicle!
Note: Pēpē can be picked up at anytime Friday - Sunday but only at 5pm onwards Monday to Thursdays – a half-day discount would be applied to compensate in this situation. Pēpē has a minimum 4 day hire for most of the year and 7 days during the summer. He is also pet-friendly but most suited to a small to medium sized dog.

About the Campervan
Location: Pēpē lives in the Beachlands area of Auckland approx. 30km (40 mins drive) from both Auckland airport and city centre. If you’re driving your own car, it can be safely parked off-road in a quiet neighbourhood while you’re away.
In The Cab: 3 seats in cab up front (2 with 3-point seat belts ad one with a lap-belt) and a radio/MP3 player with aux/iPhone input.
Kitchen Area: The interior height is 1.2m and Pēpē has a well equipped kitchen complete with a two-burner gas cooker (in the slide out unit), a 21 litre compressor chest fridge and sink with hand-pump tap. Plates, bowls, cutlery, glasses, mugs, wine glasses, utensils, pot and fry pan, mixing bowls and kettle are all included as well as spices, coffee, tea, oil, salt and pepper. Pēpē also comes with coasters and food storage containers.
Living/Sleeping Area: Pēpē has bench seating that converts to a bed that is about king single in width, but it is a little shorter than a standard bed (106cm x 180cm). So, this is a very cosy van for two people (no room for arguments here!) or better placed for a solo traveller or adult and child combination. The bed has a thick memory foam mattress for a great night’s sleep. Note: we list bedding and towels as Extras at the booking stage in case guests prefer to bring their own. There are thick black-out curtains for warmth and privacy. Plentiful storage areas can be found under the bench seating and Pēpē also comes with books and games to keep you entertained whatever the weather!
Water Facilities: Like all Quirky Campers in NZ, Pēpē is certified self-contained. He has a 25 litre fresh and grey water tanks in the kitchen area. The portable loo is stored under the bed and to use it at night, one of the bed squabs needs to be flipped up to create space to use the facilities.
Electrical/Lighting and Audio Equipment: Pēpē has a large solar panel on his roof which feeds the leisure battery to power the fridge, lights and provide power to the USB outlets for charging your devices.
Type of Heating: Insulated but no other heating aside from cab heater. A small electric fan (mains powered) is available in the cooler months for use at campsites.
Outside: Pēpē has a side-mounted awning. Outside chairs, table, inflatable stand-up paddleboard and an awning tent (which provides all-important standing room and triples your floor space!) are available as an optional extras.
Conversion Story: We were looking for an affordable option for road trips and think Pēpē is the perfect companion! His small, unassuming size means he’s easy to drive and park – and he’s efficient on fuel leaving more dollars to spend on the fun things Aotearoa has to offer! – Logan
