Don't be deceived by her dinky build and endearing name - Button is a marvel of design and functionality that gives larger vans a real run for their money.

Equipped with a spacious rooftop box including a table, chairs, and awning tent, she really packs a punch. Simply attach the tent to her awning, and voilà! You have a spacious, sheltered spot to chill, cook or work, surrounded by nature. And that's not all - Button boasts three roomy drawers at the back for cooking equipment and storage to minimize indoor clutter.

Button wows on all fronts inside too. Her good-sized fridge and dry storage jars ensure you can whip up fresh meals anytime, anywhere. Staying connected and cosy on the road is easy with her 240V hook-up for charging devices and plugging in her electric heater. She even features emergency access to the cab, so you can make a swift getaway without stepping foot outside.

Functionality aside, Button is an absolute stunner. Her stained timber ceiling, white splashback tiles, and ambient lighting give her a light, airy feel which at night becomes a snuggly sleeping space. Turn her seating area to a queen-sized bed by simply slotting the tabletop between the wood and pushing down the squabs.

Mini and mighty, Button is perfect for a cosy twosome, adult and child combo or a solo traveller. For a journey packed with both style and substance, she’s your girl.

Note: Button is suitable for freedom camping as she has been upgraded to meet the new regulations (requiring a fixed toilet). Please scroll to the top of this page and click the link in the yellow banner to find out more about freedom camping and self-contained vehicles.

Note: Button has a minimum 4 day hire for most of the year and 7 days during the summer. She is also pet-friendly but most suited to a small to medium sized dog.

One-way hires: Button's owners are open to one-way hires but please read our FAQs about additional fees and contact bookingsnz@quirkycampers.com before booking to ensure a one-way hire is possible for your dates.

About the Campervan

Location: From May 2024, Button will be in her new home in Christchurch approx. 5km – or a 10 minute drive – from Christchurch Airport and approx. 10km – or a 20 minute drive – from the city centre. Button also can be brought to Ashburton for pick-up/drop-off (for a small charge).

In The Cab: 3 seats in cab up front (2 with 3-point seat belts ad one with a lap-belt) and a radio/MP3 player with Bluetooth connection.

Kitchen Area: The interior height is about 1.2m and Button has a well-equipped kitchen complete with two single-burner gas cookers (stored in the drawer accessed from the rear), a compressor chest fridge (under the bench seat) and small sink with hand-pump tap. Plates, bowls, cutlery, glasses, mugs, wine glasses, utensils, saucepan, fry pan, and kettle are all included as well as basic pantry items such as spices, coffee, tea, oil, salt and pepper. Button also has multiple storage jars.

Living/Sleeping Area: Button has a U-shaped bench seating area that converts to a bed that is about queen size in width, but it is a little shorter in length (148cm x 180cm). However, if you’re taller you can hang your feet over the end of the bed! When assembled the bed has a thick comfy foam mattress for a great night’s sleep. Note: we list bedding and towels as Extras at the booking stage in case guests prefer to bring their own. There are thick black-out curtains for warmth and privacy. Storage areas can be found under in the kitchen area and under the bench seating. Button also comes with books and games to keep you entertained whatever the weather!

Water Facilities: Like all Quirky Campers in NZ, Button is certified self-contained. She has a 25 litre fresh and grey water tanks and a hand pump and tap and sink in the kitchen area. The fixed loo is stored under a bench seat and can be used while the bed is assembled by lifting a section.

Electrical/Lighting and Audio Equipment: Button has a solar panel on her roof which feeds the leisure battery to power the lights, fridge and there are USB charging points for your devices so you can be entirely self-sufficient. Or, if you want to pitch up on a camp site, she has electric hook-up so you can use the two 240v sockets.

Type of Heating: Insulated but no other heating aside from cab heater. A small electric fan (mains powered) is available in the cooler months for use at campsites.

Outside: Button has a 400L roofbox for extra storage and a side-mounted awning and an awning tent (which provides all-important standing room and triples your floor space!). She also comes with outside chairs and a table.

Conversion Story: We were looking for smaller van for ourselves and when this cute van came up for sale we couldn’t resist. Most of the hard work was done but we made some tweaks… like making the mattress thicker, adding our own stamp to the décor, fitting the mains hook-up and making the cab accessible from the living area if needed. Because Button is on the small side we also added a roofbox, awning, awning tent. We think she’s adorable and hope you do too! – Caleb & Lanelle

We had a great time travelling around the South Island in Button (the second Camper we have hired from Quirky NZ). The vehicle was great and the owners and Quirky team were very helpful with any queries we had. Would recommend!
