Stop for lunch and take advantage of Tui’s nifty kitchen setup, including a generous sink with a fold-down electric tap, a roomy upright fridge to chill your snacks, and a camping stove ready for outdoor cooking! Everything you need to whip up a feast is neatly stowed in the rear cupboard—pots, pans, utensils, and even pantry essentials. Handy!
When it’s time to wind down, Tui’s living area transforms into a snuggly sleeping area. Her convertible bed, slightly smaller than a queen, boasts thick mattress pieces for an extra comfy night’s sleep. Tinted windows, quality curtains, and mosquito nets ensure privacy and keep the bugs at bay, while an onboard safe provides peace of mind for your valuables.
Certified self-contained, Tui comes equipped with generous water tanks and a cleverly tucked-away fixed toilet on sliders, making her perfect for freedom camping. Thanks to her solar-powered leisure battery, USB ports, and LED lighting, you can stay charged and connected even off-grid.

- Tui has a minimum 4-day hire for most of the year and 7 days during the summer. And, while most of our vans are pet-friendly, Tui is for human travellers only!
- One-way hires: Tui's owner is open to one-way hires to/from Auckland but please read our FAQs about one-way campervan hire as additional fees apply. Please contact us before booking to ensure a one-way hire is possible for your dates.

About the Campervan
Location Tui lives in Manurewa, approximately 14km (20 mins drive) from Auckland airport and 26km (25 mins drive) from Auckland city centre. If you’re driving your own car, it can be safely parked on the driveway while you’re away. Tui may also be able to be brought to a convenient location for pick-up or drop-off by arrangement for an additional fee.

Kitchen Area With her minimalist cabinetry, Tui has a generous-sized sink with a fold-down electric pump tap and an upright fridge. For cooking, Tui has a camping stove (recommended for outdoor use) stored in the rear cupboard along with all the essential utensils, pots, pans, knives, crockery and cutlery, and pantry basics.
Dining/Living/Sleeping Area Tui has an internal height of 1.6m – so only standing room if you’re on the shorter side, but it’s a comfortable and practical height when considering driving and living. Tui has a convertible bed which is just a little smaller than queen-size (150cm x 190cm)… such a luxury in a campervan! Tui has thick mattress pieces for a great night’s sleep. For extra privacy and security, there are lightly tinted windows and quality curtains, as well as mosquito nets for both side and rear doors. There is also plenty of storage under the bed and even an onboard safe for your valuables. Note: While there’s no charge, we list bedding and towels as Extras at the booking stage, in case guests prefer to bring their own.
Water Facilities Like all Quirky Campers in NZ, Tui is certified self-contained. There are 50-litre fresh and grey water tanks. Following the newly introduced requirement for a fixed toilet for freedom camping, Tui’s is stored inside a cupboard near the side door, which can be pulled out on sliders for use.
Electrical/Lighting and Audio Equipment Tui has a leisure battery charged via the solar panel and also the engine when driving, which powers the fridge, LED lights, and USB sockets for charging devices.

Conversion Story Our campervan is called Tui – and like our other Quirky campervan, Kererū, she’s named after an iconic native bird, unique to New Zealand. We wake up each morning to Tui's beautiful enchanting songs, calling in the start of the day and energising our world.
