Ōriwa has a well-equipped kitchenette with everything you need to whip up delicious meals. Cook outside on the portable stove and enjoy al fresco dining with the outdoor table and camping chairs. With a sturdy awning providing shade and shelter, you can comfortably savour your meals and enjoy the view.
But Ōriwa’s clever design is most evident in her layout. The seating area and slide-out table are perfect for dining or enjoying Ōriwa’s books and games. Then there's the huge, elevated fixed bed, which has plenty of storage space underneath so you can pack all your essentials while keeping the living area clutter-free. At night, pull the blackout curtains, turn on the soothing fairy lights, and sink into Ōriwa’s plush mattress for a blissful night's sleep.
Ōriwa is perfect for off-grid freedom camping adventures. Plus, she warmly welcomes well-behaved pets, so your furry friends can join in on the fun. Whether you're planning a romantic getaway for two or an adventurous road trip, Ōriwa is the ideal companion for your next journey.
Note: Ōriwa has been upgraded with a fixed toilet and therefore IS suitable for freedom camping in line with the law change in June 2023 regarding self-containment certification. Note: Ōriwa can be picked up at anytime Friday - Sunday but only at 5pm onwards Monday to Thursdays – a half-day discount would be applied to compensate in this situation.

About the Campervan
Location: Ōriwa lives in the Beachlands area of Auckland approx. 30km (40 mins drive) from both Auckland airport and city centre. If you’re driving your own car, it can be safely parked off-road in a quiet neighbourhood while you’re away.
In The Cab: 3 seats up front (all with 3-point seat belts); stereo/CD player, satnav and aux cable.
Kitchen Area: The interior height is 1.9m so most people can comfortably stand up and in terms of cooking and dining, Ōriwa has an in-built sink and a portable cooler as well as a portable gas stove (fuelled with butane gas so suitable for outside cooking only). Also included are cutlery, crockery, glasses and mugs; knife set, wide range of utensils, 2 pans with lids and a fry pan, mixing/serving bowls, sieve, kettle and coffee pot; spices; coffee, tea, sugar, oil, salt and pepper.
Living/Sleeping Area: Ōriwa has a queen-size width bed measuring 1.5m x 1.62m across the rear of the camper (so a shorter than a standard bed) however it can be extended so you sleep the other way in a bed measuring 1.62m x 1.82m – super spacious! With the blackout curtains and mozzie net you can be sure of a great night’s sleep! Note: we list bedding and towels as Extras at the booking stage in case guests prefer to bring their own. There are storage areas overhead and under the bed and you can also enjoy books, games and create a beautiful ambience with the battery-powered LED fairy lights.
Water Facilities: Like all Quirky Campers in NZ, Ōriwa is certified self-contained. There are 25 litre fresh and grey water tanks and hand pump tap and sink in the kitchen area. The toilet is stored under one of the bench seats.
Electrical/Lighting and Audio Equipment: Ōriwa has a leisure battery setup with multiple USB charging ports for charging phones etc. For the warmer months, Ōriwa has a 12v fan to circulate air.
Type of Heating: None (though fully insulated)
Outside: Ōriwa has optional extras including an outdoor table and camping chairs. There is also an awning and because of the high, fixed bed a large “garage” space with heaps of storage space.
Conversion Story: Ōriwa – originally named Olive - was a baby of the 2020 lockdown created by her previous owners, Danny and Brit. They designed her to have plenty of storage and comfort so she is ready for every type of trip come rain or shine. I was keen to add Olive to our growing family of vans for hire and we’ve since renamed her Ōriwa – the Maori word for Olive – and upgraded her so she is still suitable for freedom camping. New Zealand is the perfect country for travelling in a campervan and with a van like Ōriwa you will make lots of new friends - Logan
