Keeping Queenie clean and uncluttered is a breeze, thanks to her ample storage space in the kitchen, above the bed, and under the seating squabs. The fully-equipped kitchenette boasts plenty of cupboard space for your goodies, a spacious fridge, and a 2-hob gas burner—perfect for brewing your morning coffee or whipping up breakfast. Queenie’s nifty fold-up table offers room to prep your meals while keeping the area spacious and airy when not in use.
When it comes to dining and sleeping, Queenie offers the best of both worlds! Share a meal at her table with friends (invite the neighbours!) and take in the stunning back-door views. When it’s time for bed, simply lower the squabs to transform the space into a snug queen-sized bed. You’ll be super cosy with her blackout curtains and hot water bottles. If you’re at a campsite, you can warm up with her plug-in heater too! If it gets a little too hot inside, Queenie’s Maxx air fan will keep the air flowing and you cool.
Stepping outside, you can enjoy Queenie’s sturdy fold-out awning and flip-down table, perfect for holding your drink or snacks. Fancy a bit more comfort? Included are some quality camping chairs for extra relaxation!
Think you and Queenie are meant to be? Book your next getaway with her now and start your quirky adventure!

About the Campervan
Location: Queenie lives in the Todds Valley area of Nelson approx. 15km (20 mins drive) from Nelson airport and approx. 10km (12 mins drive) from the town centre. If you’re driving your own car, it can be safely parked at our rural property while you’re away. Queenie may also be able to be brought to a convenient location (like the airport or Bus Station) by arrangement – just drop us a line. Queenie’s owner is also happy to store your bags for you if you want to unpack fully. We know campervanning with hard cases can be a bit cumbersome!
In The Cab: 3 seats in cab up front (2 with 3-point seat belts and centre seat with lap belt); reversing camera; USB charging; radio, CD player and audio connections.
Kitchen Area: Queenie has a cute kitchen area with built-in 2-burner gas stove and sink with electric pump tap. There’s a generous 85L fridge and heaps of pantry storage space. Queenie comes with all the essential utensils, pots, pans, knives, crockery and cutlery etc.
Dining/Living/Sleeping Area: Queenie has an internal height of 1.65m – so standing room if you are on the shorter side and it’s a comfortable and practical height when considering driving and living. In day mode, Queenie has lovely bench seating – long enough to lounge! – and removable table for work or play. For sleeping, Queenie has a big, convertible bed which is queen-size in width and the length of a standard double bed (150cm x 183cm). The bed runs from front to back so there’s room for over-hanging feet if there’s a particularly tall traveller! For extra privacy and security there are tinted windows and thick black-out curtains. Note: we list bedding and towels as Extras at the booking stage in case guests prefer to bring their own. There is also plenty of storage space under the bed and in overhead bins.
Water Facilities: Like all Quirky Campers in NZ, Queenie is certified self-contained. There are 30 litre fresh water and 26 litre grey water tanks. The fixed toilet is stored in a drawer in the kitchen area and can be pulled out for use as needed… this has been upgraded to meet the new "Green" standard. This means that Queenie can continue to be used for freedom camping beyond 7 December 2024 after which a green warrant is required (for rental vehicles).
Electrical/Lighting and Audio Equipment: Queenie has a leisure battery charged via the engine when driving as well as the roof-mounted solar panels. The leisure battery operates the LED lights, fridge and USB sockets for charging phones etc.
Type of Heating: Insulated floor, walls and ceiling and there is an electric oil-filled heater when plugged in at a campsite and also hot water bottles when off-grid; there’s also a ceiling fan/vent to circulate air and keep cool in summer.
Outside: Queenie comes with a 3m x 2.5m wind-out awning. Camping chairs are available as optional extras.
Conversion Story: This is our first conversion but think we got it pretty good. Looked around and got ideas from others but ended up with the bones of an old tried and true design. Full sized queen bed in "night mode". Large professional quality wind out awning for those hot days. The biggest size roof fan with a remote control for bug free ventilation that is very quiet to run all night. The fridge also is the quietest currently on offer and big at 85 litres. We chose the palette of blues, greens and yellows as we didn't want to go just white or one main colour with the decor, so said to the furniture maker who made the cabinetry units, "mix up the colours randomly". They embraced this well. Plenty of storage under the benches accessed from either the rear or lift up lids. Plus, a row of overhead bins in the rear for easy access to your clothes. – Brendon
