Sammy

Location: Sammy lives in Ohoka, north of Christchurch approx. 20km (20 mins drive) from both Christchurch airport and the CBD. If you’re driving your own car, it can be safely parked off-road while you’re away.

In The Cab: 2 seats in cab up front with access to the living space; radio and bluetooth connection.

Kitchen Area: Lovely timber countertops and generous sink with electric pump tap. Store enough food for a feast in the 65L fridge and for cooking, there’s a built-in 2-burner gas hob. Sammy also comes with all the essential utensils, pots, pans, knives, crockery and cutlery etc. For safety there’s gas monitor, fire alarm and fire extinguisher.

Dining/Living/Sleeping Area: Sammy has an internal height of 1.98m – so standing room for virtually everyone! There’s comfy bench seating on each side with a great sized table in between. Together these transform into an almost kingsize-width bed (1.63m wide x 1.95m long) with luxury foam mattress… so a good nights’ sleep is practically guaranteed! Noting that one side on the bed is slightly shorter at 1.8m. Sammy is insulated with beautiful thick curtains and for ultimate comfort, there are netted windows so you can feel the breeze without the bugs! Note: we list bedding and towels as Extras at the booking stage in case guests prefer to bring their own. There is also plenty of storage space over the cab and under the bench seats.

Water Facilities: Like all Quirky Campers in NZ, Sammy is certified self-contained. There’s a fixed 45 litre fresh water tank with external filler and a 50 litre sized grey water tank (also fixed) with waste attachment and hose to empty waste. The fixed toilet is stored under the bench seating, accessed from inside the van and can be pulled out for use as needed.

Electrical/Lighting and Audio Equipment: Sammy has a leisure battery charged via the engine when driving, LED lights with USB sockets for charging devices. She also has a 240v hook-up and campground power cable.

Type of Heating: Insulated and comes with a 240v fan heater for use when the van is plugged into a campground.

Outside: Sammy comes with camping chairs and an outdoor table available.

Conversion Story: Sammy is our fifth conversion – we are very passionate about campervans and small spaces! Sammy has had a complete rebuild inside and ready for some memorable trips away. Our daughter named this van after a beautiful horse we looked after for years. One of our favourite features of Sammy is having the option to walk through to the cab internally, but having part of the bench top that drop down to create a really user-friendly L-shaped kitchen.
