This custom built 2019 Mercedes Sprinter, 314 LWB Euro 6, was crafted with a high attention to detail with no expense spared.

Weighbridge certificate of post conversion weight of 3180 kg (including 75 kg of water, a full tank of fuel, full gas cylinder, all our personal belongings, pots & pans, climbing gear and two adult people) which gives a large payload for all the luggage you may want to bring on your travels or additional upgrades you may want to make to the van to tailor it to your needs.

OUTSIDE:
When converting this van we wanted privacy and safety first, which is why it was fitted with small windows. Less windows makes keeping your van warm in winter and cool in summer much easier. A previous van we had with lots of windows was far harder to heat and to cool, whereas this van is extremely efficient. The other benefit of our design is privacy and security. It is not possible for a person to climb through the window or skylight, so you can leave your van parked up anywhere confident your valuables are safe. However, more windows could be easily retrofitted, for example in the sliding door and rear doors, if desired.

1 x Professionally fitted Dometic mini heki skylight (400 mm x 400 mm) which gives a great amount of natural light into the kitchen and seating area. This has a built-in mosquito net and a blackout blind. Skylights offer around 30% more light than a window, making them ideal for small spaces like a van.

1 x Professionally fitted small side window with privacy tint at the rear, which allows for good ventilation throughout the van and allows a breeze at night. Includes custom insulated blackout blind for the rear window.

MATERIALS AND INSULATION:
All exposed metal work was treated with anti rust metal paint to future proof and prevent the formation of rust on the vehicle. The van has been extensively insulated throughout, as described below, and vapour barriered throughout to prevent any condensation and damp on the insulation.

Walls and Ceiling:
– 50 mm and 25 mm Celotex insulation board,
– Recycled, non-fibrous plastic bottle insulation in the smaller cavities,
– Foil bubble insulation on top,
– Cladded with 8 mm tongue and groove pine, treated with clear osmo oil, for a scandinavian feel,
– Cladding clips and small nails were used to attach the cladding which gives a sleek, professional finish (avoiding the use of unsightly screws.)

Floor:
– 25 mm celotex floor insulation with vapour barrier,
– Durable, easy cleaning altro walkway vinyl throughout,
– Aluminium edging for durability.

Doors:
Both the sliding door and rear doors have insulation in the cavities and carpet lined ply which gives an element of coziness when in bed. Sliding door also has a unique custom cork board to pin your photos and travel memories.

Bulkhead:
– 25 mm Celotex insulation,
– On the cab side auto carpet ply which allows an unassuming finish from the outside,
– On the living side is a beautiful durable scandi wallpaper coated in decorators varnish which is water and stain resistant and can be wiped down.

The bulkhead has a unique hatch which has a mirror on the living area side, which reflects the natural light from the skylight and is auto carpeted on the cab side. When open it provides a great view whilst cooking and chilling in the van. When closed it provides a lot of privacy. The bulkhead also provides fantastic insulation, keeping you warm and the cab free from condensation on even the coldest days. Another attraction of this design is security, your belongings are secure and out of sight when you leave the vehicle. The hatch is large enough to fit through in an emergency so you can get into the cab from the living area.

There is also a headliner shelf which provides a brilliant amount of extra storage in what is otherwise dead space. This is incorporated into the bulkhead design to give a smooth professional finish.

Additionally:
Dodo dead mat has been placed along the panels of the van for sound deadening.

KITCHEN:
Beautiful handcrafted custom kitchen, which reduces the overall weight of the units and allows functional, practical space for storage and use.

The kitchen includes;
– Dometic CRX50 12 V fridge freezer,
– Dometic Smev 9222 Sink and Hob combo with sleek safety glass twin lid which maximises kitchen worktop surface,
– Custom chopping board which fits in the Smev 9222,
– Plenty of storage under the sink and hob as well as a bespoke pull out pantry door for dry food items,
– 10 litre built-in bin on the inside of the kitchen cupboard,
– Soft close mechanisms and magnets / locking devices to stop them flying open in transit!
– Solid wood countertop finished with danish oil,
– Magnetic knife rack mounted on the inside of the cupboard and on the bulkhead,
– Hanging rail and spice rack on the bulkhead for easy access.

LIVING SPACE:
Spacious seating area (65 cm x 175 cm) with two luxury bespoke upholstered bench seat cushions which can be removed and cleaned.

Top-of-the-range Lagun swivel table leg with solid wood table top (42 cm x 63 cm) which allows for flexibility of where you would like it and can be completely removed and stored under the bench seat.

SLEEPING:
Full size double bed size fixed bed (135 cm x 190 cm), slatted bed frame with DRY-mat to prevent moisture and condensation build up under the mattress.

The bench seat (65 cm x 175 cm) is large enough to sleep a third person.

ELECTRICS:
Professionally fitted electrical system which includes:
– 2 x 115 Ah leisure batteries,
– Sterling Pro battery to battery charger (Euro 6 Compatible with smart alternator) gives exceptionally efficient charge to the leisure batteries which means the batteries will never run low,
– 240 V mains charger hook up installed discreetly under the bonnet, with 240 V 3 pin plugs which can be used when plugged in,
– 12 V standard port,
– 12 V double USB port which includes a battery voltage monitor.
– 8 x 12 V warm touch 18 LED lights which provide a variety of lighting moods.
– Dometic CRX50 12 V fridge freezer

The sterling battery to battery charger is phenomenally efficient meaning your charge is never running low. The electrical system is compact and tidy, located underneath the passenger seats in the cab of the van. This ensures maximum efficiency and minimal voltage drop within the system.

Professionally fitted at RAC approved motorhome specialist 5 kW diesel heater which is connected into the main diesel tank of the van. This avoids the hassle and mess of filling up a separate tank. In addition, the extensive insulation retains the heat well – you’ll never be cold!

WATER:
Smart water system which includes whale babyfoot pump system which is manually operated, requiring no power, and reduces water consumption. The van can sort up to 75 litres of fresh water in total.

Under the sink houses one 25 litre fresh water tank and one 25 litre waste water on quick release for ease of filling, emptying and cleaning. In addition, there are 2 x 25 litre fresh water tanks in the garage.

The water tanks are extremely practical as they can be quickly removed and filled directly from a source of water and are easier to clean than a fixed tank. Water and electricity have not been mixed in this system, adding safety and reliability for off-grid living.

GAS:
The gas for the stove is fitted with a regulator designed for campingaz or similar gas bottles. The regulator has an on off valve so it can be turned off directly at the bottle which removes the risk of a leak. The gas bottle has a tie down strap to stop any movement whilst driving.

GARAGE STORAGE AREA:
192 cm x 174 cm x 75 cm
This conversion was built with storage in mind. Under the bed, accessed from the rear doors, is a huge garage area which could house bikes, outdoor equipment like climbing gear, inflatable kayaks or paddle boards, skis etc.

ADDITIONAL STORAGE:
Next to the bed is a large open wardrobe area for clothes, books and other items you may want quick access to. The open design allows easy access and doesn’t make the space feel smaller like a conventional cabinet would. Stylish baskets and crates along with a lip around each compartment, keeps items secure while driving.

Behind the bench seat in the living area are 6 wooden storage crates which allow for additional storage, as well as storage under the seat itself. Alongside the wardrobe this provides a huge amount of storage accessible from the living area.
There is also a large headliner shelf at the front of the van, perfect to store bulkier items such as blankets and large jackets.
All this storage allows your items to be stored in an organised and practical way.

SAFETY:

The van is a high spec and has been designed with love and an attention to detail that is second to none. No expense has been spared. We lived in the van full time for a couple of months and the design is really practical and there is limited wear on the conversion.

The Mercedes Sprinter van is in excellent condition and considered to be the best and most reliable van on the market. The van is super clean, fresh and – ready to go on any adventure you have in mind! !

Note:
During our time in the van we decided not to install a toilet, we have a collapsible toilet which we can pass onto the new owners if they want, however, a compostable/ portable toilet can easily be retrofitted. A Porta Potti 335 or similar can fit underneath the bench seat. Additionally, we did not want to install a fixed shower due to concerns of damp and condensation in the van. We have a great USB rechargeable shower pump which can be used outside which we can also pass onto the new owners.
