Skippy has been 100% reliable, I have been living in this van for just under a year full time, as a solo female I have always felt completely safe.
“Skippy” has been my home for the last year, mainly residing in Cornwall. Recently completing a six week trip through Wales, the Lake District, Scottish highlands and the Isle of Skye. He now resides in Dorset awaiting a new owner to take him on more adventures!
Whilst he may be compact in size he has been the most perfect adventure van, with plenty of storage to pack everything in, a 200w solar panel, 12v electrics, double ring gas hob/grill and a sink with an electric pump and 25 litre water container, he is fully self sufficient to explore off the beaten track.
The swivel passenger chair opens up the space hugely and was new when we got the van just under a year ago. Easy access to the cab was a really important safety feature for me, as a solo female, it meant if ever needed I didn’t have to get out of the van to go between the living area and drivers seat (never implemented, but great for peace of mind!)
Safety is also of high importance when it comes to the gas onboard. The 5kg gas bottle has its own metal locker with ventilation, as well as two stop cocks on the line between the hob and the bottle. There is piping in place to fit a permanent gas heater if you would like to upgrade the heating system. Carbon monoxide alarm also in place.
I have a mr.heater, heater buddy which I turned on very occasionally having been for a swim, but with decent levels of insulation I did not require any more even in the coldest months. This can be sold with the van if the new owner would like it.
Two sliding window vents and a pop up roof vent above the bed provides excellent airflow in the summer months as well as whilst cooking.
Skippy also drives like a dream, sitting happily at 70mph on the motorway without guzzling fuel, with the added bonus of fitting into a standard car parking space.
With the help of a portable plug in inverter, I have been working remotely from Skippy for the last few months, but since acquiring a rabbit we have now upsized to a bigger van, through no fault of his own Skippy is now for sale.
