Mercedes 709d. Home on Wheels.

We are heading overseas so the time has come to sell our beloved home! This is our self built dream of a tiny home on wheels which the two of us have lived in very comfortably for the last couple of years.

We built it out over the course of the year in 2019. As it is on a chassis rated to carry 7.5 tonne, no compromise was made when building out the van to be as homey and as comfortable as possible!

The vehicle itself is a 1992 Mercedes 709d. These vehicles are renowned for being build solid and pretty much unstoppable, the engine itself is known as the million mile engine because you guessed it, they have been known to cover over a million miles. This one however, being a house truck, has only covered 38,000 miles! Which is ridiculous as its been around for 30 years.

This summer the vehicle has undergone a full exterior restoration, the body has been sanded back, all rust has been treated or cut out and whole new skirt has been fitted. It’s then had a whole new nato green raptor paint job. On top of this it also has had lots of work done mechanically for its recent MOT. This includes new brakes, new exhaust and new power steering pump. So safe to say this truck is ready for the road again.

The inside as you can see from the photos is a cosy fully fledged tiny home with everything you need to live comfortably. We have used beautiful English hardwoods such as Ash and Oak throughout. The wet room has a slate floor and real subway tile walls. It has the option of a rainfall shower head or wand!
The sofa cushions have been upholstered in a lovely comfy herringbone fabric. We have handcrafted bespoke window surrounds which really highlight the smaller sized windows which we chose for security and privacy reasons. I will make a list now of every thing else worth mentioning..
