Volkswagen Crafter MWB – Handcrafted Conversion

General Conversion Description:
Uniquely crafted conversion with thoughtful details and sustainably conscious materials. Lined with white washed birch ply and douglas fir plywood joinery, all lovingly sculpted to fit the curvy shape of the van.

Walls, floors and roof have been meticulously insulated with sheep wool, keeping you cosy in winter and cooler in summer, the van was designed with all year weather and ski touring in mind. Sound matting and vapour check layer were included in the construction, providing sound insulation and protection from internal moisture/condensation. Van is also fitted with a Truma Combi Boiler that provides very efficient heating & hot water.

Plenty of tinted window openings allowing for ample natural daylight and privacy. Including a big sliding door fixed panel window, a rear back door fixed panel window and 2no. Dometic S7P Top-Hung windows along one side. All blinds are handmade, drop down style, with linen fronts and blackout lining.

Kitchen Description:
Minimalist douglas fir ply cabinetry with waterproof grey laminate countertops. The main preparation area includes three large drawers with black push button latches and soft-close runners, alongside overhead cupboard storage. The large bottom drawer contains a 46L, 12v Dometic chest fridge with ice maker and bluetooth control (included in sale) and a Thetford gas hob and oven with a glass lid is built within the unit to the side. A stainless steel sink with matt black tap sits opposite, benefiting from views afforded by the sliding door. The waste water tank sits conveniently within the sink cupboard.

A Maxxair ceiling fan/vent above the kitchen area provides extraction during cooking and fresh air to the rest of the van when in reverse mode (great for sleeping). Downlights incorporated in high level cupboards to light the countertops whilst preparing food and doing the washing up, switches located next to the sliding door for ease.

A hatch through to the cab is also located within the kitchen area, great for handing cups of tea and sandwiches through to the cab. The cab to main van separation was maintained to ensure maximum insulation – keeping the van cooler in summer and warmer in winter. The hatch also acts as an emergency access point to the cab, should you ever need to drive away without exiting the van. A second hatch above, within the luton, provides bedding storage for the living area during ‘day mode’. The third hatch at the base provides great storage for shoes.

Beds Description:
A full sized double bed (190x135cm) is positioned longways to the back, allowing the tallest resident to stretch out. The bed comprises an ‘L’ shaped bench and the telescopic table that lowers down, the back-rest cushions completing the mattress. Overhead cupboards run either side of the bed, providing ample storage for clothing.

A side table area along the length of the bed provides a convenient location for a morning cuppa, with USB charging points for phones etc and a light switch to control the 2no. overhead downlights at the back. The downlights provide a convenient reading light and soft/cosy lighting for getting in and out of the bed. A hidden storage cupboard also makes up the side table, great for storing books and electronics.

Dining Area Description:
The dining area seats two very easily, and four comfortably. The table is on a telescoping leg allowing for height adjustment and rotates to make it easier to get in and out. Comfy linen upholstery and waterproof grey laminated plywood table to match the kitchen countertops. The linen covers are easily washed as they can be zipped on and off.

Garage Description:
Large garage area with additional length for longer items (was built to accommodate a pair of full length skis). Electrical services & battery storage is concealed beneath the ‘L’ shaped bench to provide protection, alongside a 57L fresh water tank concealed under the side table, both accessed from the living area.

A water proof power socket and ‘change over’ switch is also provided to the right hand side of the garage and a shower point to the left hand side. The shower point is positioned to allow external showers between rear ‘barn’ doors for privacy.
