Volkswagen LT35 LWB
This van comes with a fresh MOT and has just been FULLY serviced. I’ve owned her for 4 years and has always been fully maintained including both timing belts and a water pump when I bought her, with only 1 former keeper before. Also had an uprated alternator for more efficient battery charging and the engine remapped for better fuel efficiency and a bit more power. This is the 2.5TDi 5 cylinder and very clean engine, I’ve never had a break down so very reliable. On a long run I’ve gotten close to 30mpg (29.8mpg) which is fantastic considering we had all our gear in there.
These models are known to rust on the lower doors and new skins have been put on and I’d say 90% of rust fully removed when I converted her. (It would be disingenuous to say all rust on a 22 year old gal, but when you see her you can see how structurally sound she is).
Having had a career as a mechanic who built 4×4 vehicles for overland expeditions I built this van to a high standard in 2019 to travel Europe (which due to covid didn’t happen). Designed to be lived in full-time and suitable for all seasons. Fully insulated with 25-50mm of insulation and a vapour barrier. Made out of high quality materials with oak finishing touches.
Conversion comes with the premium brand of βVictronβ electrics. Having a DC-DC 30amp charger, over half a Kilowatt (525w) Victron solar panels which can be raised to capture more sunlight. 2000w pure sine wave inverter which allows for even a microwave to be used off grid. Powered by a 200ah Lithium battery. Also has mains hook up if you should need it which charges the leisure battery and powers sockets.
Kitchen set up has a 2 burner gas stove with a 10kg βSafefillβ fibreglass refillable bottle, these bottle are much safer and donβt have a risk of explosion, they also donβt attract condensation and can be refilled legally at any LPG station for a fraction of the cost off rented bottles. A retro Monpellier 12v fridge which was converted by Inlander and uses the same compressor as the premium brand βDometicβ so is very efficient. Soft close draws and full cupboards give plenty of storage and high quality compact laminate worktop space.
L shaped bench seating and Laguna table mount provide a comfy breakfast/dining area which is lovely with the door open in the morning. The swivel versatile table can move to operate in 3 modes, becoming either extended worktop space when cooking, a dining table or a side table. Surround by two oak framed windows to take in the local views of being off grid.
Toilet facilities provided via a ‘Simploo’ separating composting toilet fully vented externally. Check out their website simploo.co.uk best toilet for Vanlife in my experience.
Fixed small double bed (4β wide) and only a little shorter in length than a standard mattress. With built in fully vented wardrobe underneath with space to hang clothes and numerous clothes boxes. As this was designed to be lived in all year round the vents stop any mould forming on clothes and keep them fresh. Ive never had any issues with mould in the van AT ALL in over 4 years.
Other features include a Maxx air fan for ventilation and a diesel heater for the cold weather which has a separate fuel container so not to use up the main tank. Also has full dual band wi-fi (not just a dongle) and a 4G antenna which gets signal in the most remote locations, on EE I averaged around 70Mbps faster than most households.
This van would be ideal for any travel plans, surfing enthusiast or Vanlifeβs who want a robust fully offgrid van.
4 foot wide fixed double bed
Sofa can sleep a child up to 140cm
