Ford Transit 17 Seater Minibus Campervan Conversion

I bought this van as a school minibus so had been looked after by the previous owners.

Everything you see in the pictures was installed and custom built by myself from birch plywood. To help keep the weight down and also for a bit of flex I used alloy framing.

As seen in the photos the interior hasn’t been fully completed due to a change in my circumstances. I bought this van with a plan for converting into a camper to do some long term travelling in. I have managed to finish 90% of the conversion but there are a few more things left to do. Which is……

Inverter
Batteries
Shower door
Seating upholstery

The whole van has been insulated with fibre insulation, sound proofing and insulation on the floor.
I have built out of high quality birch plywood a kitchen on one side of the van, the other side is a draw unit plus a full length wardrobe. All the unit surfaces plus the table is a thick plywood covered in a white melamine. The table has a telescopic leg making it so the table can push down changing the U shape seating into a large bed, The bedding is foam with a layer of memory foam for more comfort. The floor is covered in cork which is easy to clean and feels nice under foot.

Equipment list installed….
Renogy DC to DC charger with MPPT
Renogy communication hub
Renogy BT-2 Bluetooth module
1x175w Monocrystalline solar panel
Victron Energy Blue smart IP22 mains charger
12v diesel heater
Bobile water heater with 18 litre hot water tank
Seaflow water pump
60 litre fresh water tank with 12v water gauge
60 litre grey water tank with 12v water gauge
JKF50 12v compressor fridge freezer
Tefal induction hob
Waterdrop water filter system
Urine separating toilet.
Sky light in the shower cubical
Rear door ladder with 20 litre fuel can

I have just had some work done on the underside of the van for the MOT last month. I had £1400 worth of welding done on the all the seals and underside of the van done.
5 months left on the road tax.
The engine starts first time every time especially with the DC to DC charger with solar panel that constantly keeps the leisure and engine battery fully charged.

Me and my girlfriend have used the van for holidays to the highlands and it performed every time with no problems what so ever.

I haven’t changed the log book to a camper van yet but I am willing to help with this when the V5 document is changed to a new owner. If unaware of how this works it’s pretty easy. I can print out photos of the van, and along with a check list and V5 this can all be sent in to DVLA which will re classify the van as a camper van which helps with a number of things like insurance, tax, MOT etc…

If you have any other questions please ask.

Beds Description

It has a U-shape bench seat at the back of the van with a table in the middle which can be pushed down to create a large bed.
