Thanks for taking an interest in my Gothic campervan. This is the fourth van I have converted in the last few years and despite all my vans being very unique I felt like I had to do something exceptional for this one. It was by far the most fun build that I’ve done and also the one that has got the most attention. I have just got back from a 2 month trip around Europe in it and we had endless people coming over and wanting a tour/to take photos etc. As well as being a bit of a head turner the van is very homely which is comforting when parked in the middle of nowhere.
About the van:
Windows: It has one window with privacy glass that can be opened. There is also a very big “window” in the bulkhead that allows lots of light to come in.
Insulation: It is insulated with recycled plastic insulation and a combination of silver foil insulation & polythene as a vapour barrier.
Seating: Two very comfortable luxury velvet armchairs. There is also a removable dining table.
Bed: Very comfortable full size double bed with a memory foam mattress.
Kitchen area:
Hob: There is a gas hob that is currently running off camping gaz. The gas bottle will be included in the sale.
Sink: There is a small copper sink with a powerful tap. There are 2 large 20l water containers for the fresh and waste water.
Fridge: There is a 12v halfords coolbox that I plug into a built in cigarette lighter in the back.
Heating: There is a diesel heater with a full tank of diesel.
Storage: There is a large storage cupboard above the cab area. There is also a huge storage area under the bed. The quirky kitchen units have lots of compartments, drawers and cupboards for all your food/utensils/cleaning products. And if you still need more space there are large areas behind and under the armchairs. We had no problem fitting our 2 months worth of supplies/clothes/equipment into the van.
Electrics:
The electrics in my van are very simple and easy to work on if necessary.
140AH leisure battery
Split charge relay
1 USB fast charge socket
1 USB – C socket
4 Dimmable touch operated spot lights
Tap with 12v water pump
Hob with 12v ignition
Diesel heater
Front and rear cigarette lighter sockets
Safety:
Throughout the build I only ever used low VOC paint and adhesives. These are specifically designed for home or motorhome use indoors.
Exterior:
I have not altered the outside of the van since I have bought it. It is still quirky but it definitely does not match in the interior. I personally like it this way as the blue and yellow stickers are slightly reflective so it looks a bit like a security/police van which makes you feel safe when parked in slightly dodgy areas. The stickers have also helped protect the lower bodywork from stonechips/rust. I do have a brand new unopened tin of black military vehicle paint that can be included with the sale if you would like to have a go at painting it yourself.
