Detailed Information
Vehicle Description

Sad to be selling our beloved T4 which we have owned for the past 10 years (just 2 owners before us).

The Clock shows 190,000 miles, though the Engine has only done 130,000 miles as we upgraded the engine in 2016 and the new engine had 60,000 fewer miles on it at the time (see below for more details).
New MOT until End of October 2024.
New Timing Belt last year
Brand new tyres Oct 2023 just before MOT
50th anniversary addition which means it has some nice extras compared to other models such as Twin sliding doors (sliding doors on each side), electric windows, tailgate with window & wiper.
In 2016 we completed a popular engine upgrade for these 1.9TD ABL T4 engines and upgraded to a 1.9 TDI AHU engine which is more powerful and more fuel efficient. The AHU engine for this conversion came from a MK3 Golf that had done just 95,000 miles at the time (also replaced head gasket, water pump and timing belt at the time. Timing belt and water pump replaced again 2023).
The van is Raised up by an additional 20mm on heavy duty springs to give a bit more of a swamper look and a much comfier ride and more practical than the lowered vans. (Done by Si Coles at SC VW Customs)
Commissioned Banded Steel wheels (again made by the well respected Si Coles at SC VW Customs), Powder coated black and with VW centres. Allows a larger tyre for more comfort and better traction on dirt tracks/fields – I havent gone full AT tyres to keep the fuel efficiency for road driving, but this would be a simple tyre change to get the full swamper look.
As with many T4s, due to the age the sills are now starting to rust. I’ve had a quote to sort the rust, replace the sills on both sides with new panels and colour matched to the existing Indian Blue for £600.

Also included
Fiamma Bike carrier for the rear (carries 2x bikes)
A few spares ive accummulated too – Spare driver side sliding door mechanism, passanger door internal trim, tow bar.

Conversion Description

This camper is fully converted with Leisure battery charged through a 150W solar panel on the roof and split charge relay for charging when driving too. Dual ring Dometic Gas hob, fully insulated walls, ceiling and floor with recycled plastic bottle insulation, and condensed aluminium bubble insulation. Ply lined and carpet lined throughout.
This van is quite rare in that it has twin sliding doors, so the layout we designed utilises this as well as the tailgate; allowing acces using all doors making it really flexible when choosing camp spots.
The benches pull out to create a bed (full length of the van, pretty much double bed width)
Lots of storage under both benches and in a bespoke side unit too. Two 6×9 Speakers in the rear for some decent sound system both when driving and when parked up.
Leisure battery powers some 12v usb plug sockets, the LED lights in the ceiling, Stereo and an electric coolbox fridge (we use a small plug-in invertor to charge any 230V mains powered electronics too. The solar panel provides plenty of power to keep the battery charged for a week in the summer, or a little under a week when it isnt sunny without having to turn the engine on at all. The split charge relay fitted means that as soon as you turn on the engine and drive anywhere the battery charges directly from the engine too pretty quickly. We havent felt the need to add in mains hook-up but its simple to do with a kit if you wanted to in the future.
We had the windows in the sliding doors fitted by Mad workshop in Bristol

Sad to be selling our van, but now have to be doing more miles for work, and didnt feel right to be putting loads of commuter miles on the van when it could be out there on adventures! We are also expecting another baby so rather than tear out the rear, add more seats and reconfigure, we thought it was the right time to pass on to someone else for some new adventures!

Beds Description

The two rear benches pull out to create the main bed (pretty much double bed width, and extra long as is full length of van interior)
The comfortable foam is upholsterd and the covers can zip off (though we have always put a protector and sheet on when we sleep in it)
We have regularly gone away with our toddler, and bought a Sitches and Steel front Hammoc style bed which lays across the front seats in the cab creating a cosy bedroom in the front for a little one (or a dog!) as we have curtains that pull across to separate too.
