Discover the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort with our bespoke family camper. Originally a traditional Oakley Horsebox, this camper has been thoughtfully converted to suit all of our needs as a large family, retaining its original exterior while boasting top-of-the-range facilities inside. They joy of a conversion is that we have been able to make tweaks and changes over the years as our needs have changed.
Externally, this motorhome retains its original, rustic wooden features, ensuring a classic look that protects and diverts attention from the interior details. With the capacity to camp offgrid, she is perfect for enjoying the great outdoors. Enjoy a glass of wine on the delightful wooden decking/balcony via French doors while the kids sleep peacefully in their own space. Play games or eat in the U shaped seating area with removable table. If you need even more space or a drying area (in the great British weather) there is a Fiamma safari tent, which is easily detachable for versatile use.
This semi-professional conversion was executed by qualified experts: a vehicle electrician with years of camper conversion experience, a welder specialising in lorries and trucks, and a skilled builder/carpenter. The result is a spacious and well-equipped interior that comfortably sleeps up to 8 people.
On the road there are 6 belted (5 x 3 point belts) seats and space for 2 large dog cages. We have easily fitted 3 high back child seats, 2 adults and a large dog on our travels!
Sleeping Arrangements:
1 king-size bed electrically lowered from the ceiling over the dining area.
1 king-size bed converted from the dining area.
The kids’ room with 3 separate sleeping areas, curtain divides, double USB charging sockets and individual nightlights/reading lights includes 2 high rise single beds with cubbies and storage and 1 RIB Altair 130 double bed (also works as a kids/toddler bed behind the seats, up to approximately 6 years).
In addition to the cubbies there is plenty of storage under the rock and roll bed and behind whilst travelling.
Kitchen and Bathroom:
Yet more storage, including a domestic under-counter fridge, large kitchen units, 2 drawers and top boxes, all with push-button catches to securely close whilst on the move.
Gas oven/hob (Kampa Roastmaster) with LPG quick release with integrated worktop cover for more workspace.
Kitchen sink with running hot and cold water with integrated worktop cover, for more workspace.
Separate vented Simploo composting loo with built in extraction, with a handheld shower and waste water collection and tambour door for privacy.
Bench seats with large storage under, the end units pull out to allow for additional/comfortable seating around one end of the table. During transport, we would secure the cushions above on the drop-down bed and easily strap 5 bikes on the slatted base.
Off-Grid Capabilities
Designed for both off-grid adventures and electric hookups, this camper ensures your family can enjoy the great outdoors without sacrificing comfort. The 25L underslung LPG gas tank and safety ventilation holes provide peace of mind. A Shurflow 30psi water filter connects to a 200L clean water tank, with a hose hookup for refills, ensuring a reliable water supply.
Power is never an issue with 3x 335W solar panels, an Epever Solar Controller, and a Victron Inverter, complemented by 2 x 12V 260AH Xtreme AGM Leisure Batteries. This setup ensures you have ample electricity for all your needs. Sockets include a selection of British double sockets and USB sockets.
As a family of 5 we could camp 100% off grid with no additional water supply for a weekend. With a watersupply, you could easily camp all summer. Hook up was more comfortable in the winter due to the heating running more efficiently although it can be connected to larger bottled gas if required.
Safety and Comfort
Safety and comfort are paramount in our camper. The camper features a gas/electric combi (4E) Truma thermostat-controlled heating and hot water system, ensuring a cozy interior in any weather. Two Maxxfan Deluxe Roof Vents with remote control and automatic temperature control provide excellent ventilation and cooling. There are external gas, electric, and BBQ hookups.
Included in the sale is a Garmin dezl 780LMT-D Lorry Sat Nav, with installed reversing camera.
For safety, the camper includes a Trio gas alarm, carbon monoxide alarms, powder fire extinguisher, sufficient LPG escape valves and ventilation, the RIB Altaire was professionally welded into place.
Additional Information
The camper is fully insulated with taped Celotex (150mm on the ceiling, 100mm on the floor, and 25mm on the walls), with all cold spots bridged. The camper is fully lined with a green tint vapor barrier. A curtained climb-through hatch to the driver’s cab adds convenience and safety.
All modifications and conversion components (except the safari tent) were bought new, with receipts available for inspection. This camper is ready to provide your family with memorable adventures in comfort and style.
This comes complete with a comprehensive manual with illustrative drawings.
Whilst this has been designed as a camper, there isn’t a lot of work needed to convert it into a static holiday let.
She is lovely to drive, has always been stored on hard standing and serviced annually, prior to or alongside MOT. We moved house in January 2024 and can not keep her at the new house, so sadly needs to be sold as we move on to our next adventure. For more information or to arrange a viewing, please contact us. Please note that we have looked at similar vehicles to gauge the price, however, this is such a unique vehicle it is really difficult to judge. We only know what it cost to build and hope to recoup as much as possible. We will happily consider any sensible offers, so if you are serious, please get in touch. We have lots more photos if needed.
2 x King size bed
2 x single bed
