A 1960s Vintage horse trailer which has been lovingly refurbished for a stylish yet practical off-grid getaway. A real head turner. We bought this trailer in poor condition, and replaced the chassis with a quality used galvanised one, and added a new lockable 3.5t knott hitch, and two new 1.5t braked axles, finished off with new low profile wheels and tyres (including a spare). The floor is made from new 25mm marine ply, with oak flooring inside. We added a Land Rover roof rack to the top, on which is mounted side and rear awnings, a solar panel, bike rack for 3 or 4 bikes, and the number plate. There is also ample space for more luggage. The 175W 12V Victron Energy Rigid Framed Poly Series (Silver/Black) panel charges a 12V 250AH Banner Energy Bull Leisure Battery which is accessed from outside through the jockey door, or inside via a ventilated door, along with all the fuses and we have added a split charge relay charging lead to enable charging while on the move. We also include a 240V electrical hookup cable and fast charger in the package. There is an outside shower with hot and cold water, which can be used for humans or animals (or bikes etc!) and a shower tent to add privacy and civilisation. On the opposite side of the trailer to the shower there is a 2.5m x 2.5m awning, and at the rear there is a 1.5m x 2m awning with windbreak. With the original spring-assisted tailgate it is possible to load a heavy bike or motorbike, with strategic tie-down points inside the trailer. Upon opening the back tailgate, you meet with attractive French doors with mortice lock and adjustable restraints; these lead into the main living area, which comprises of a kitchenette, complete with gas powered Kampa Roastmaster Cooker and two hob rings, a full-size sink with mixer tap (including pumped hot and cold water), fridge (Alpicool CR65 65l Compressor type), and woodburner (Outbacker® ‘Firebox’ Eco Burn -Secondary Burn Portable Tent Stove). There are also a range of cupboards and drawers all with travel proof catches. Beyond the kitchenette is the seating area, which is built from benches housing Ikea Kallax size boxes. In the two hard-to-reach areas in the corners, are the battery and fuses, and also the Truma BGE 10 hot water heater, which feeds the sink and the outside shower. The oven and the heater both have their own gas bottle and pipeline. Water is fed to the sink and shower from a 105-litre storage tank inside a purpose-built box on the drawbar, and all the pipes (John Guest 12mm) below the trailer are insulated. The pump includes an inline strainer and expansion vessel. The seating area includes a rectangle 25mm ply table faced with white melamine, which can be raised or lowered to suit needs. This is lowered out of the way for the bed to be formed between the benches, and the backrest cushions exactly fit in the central section to make a very comfortable double bed; the cushions are 75mm thick foam with a wipeable finish. There is one loading floodlight at the front of the trailer, two loading lights at the rear of the trailer, four attractive outside lights with a two-way switch outside and inside; there are three internal lighting circuits comprising of 1) two manual override reading lamps with LED lit touch button switching, 2) central LED strip lighting, and 3) under-seat LED strip lighting, all switched from inside the back doors. There is a roof vent window with integrated fly-screen and blind, two safari pop out windows with integrated blinds, and of course the sweet little original front window. The kitchenette walls are finished in a one-piece wipeable and heat-reflective stucco aluminium sheet, and the seating area is finished in panelling to the lower half, and larch cladding to the upper half which gives a pleasant welcome smell and stylish but homely vibe. The walls and ceiling are all insulated with TLX Silver to keep it cosy in the winter, and cool in the summer.
