Volkswagon T4 2.5TDi
Lovely VW T4 campervan, Morris Ross.
For sale is this 1999 T4 2.5 TDi. The van is in excellent mechanical condition and runs well. There are signs of wear and tear and a little rust on the body work, but nothing too dramatic. You’ll notice a scrape on the drivers’ side, which will need attention. MOT until June 2025.
The van’s interior unit is made of plywood, giving it a bright and airy feel. The Dometic sink and hob was replaced just before I bought it and has only been used a few times by me. I have sorted the interior electrics, which were messy, and fitted a fuse box, as well as a housing unit for the gas cannister and waste pipe. The engine now charges the leisure battery. There is a battery voltage indicator on the light panel, which is useful to have.
The pop-top is electric and was installed by the previous owner from a Mazda Bongo. It runs smoothly up and down and makes using the pop-top easy. The vinyl has a tear which I have patched with duct tape and which stops the rain getting in, for now.
The rock and roll bed does not have seatbelts and the drivers cab can accommodate three people.
The van will come with an Olpro Breeze Cocoon Awning, purchased last summer. This requires a repair on one of the inner tubes. The van will also come with the interior window insulting panels and exterior thermal cover for the windscreen and driver/passenger windows, as well as a 25m cable for hooking-up.
I’ve owned the van for a year and have done the following:
Timing belt kit (water pump/fuel pump/tensioners)
Bosch starter motor;
Alternator;
New battery and leisure battery;
Rear brake discs and pads;
New handbrake cables (middle and rear).
The van failed its MOT last month and has now passed with all essential work completed and some of the advisories too. I have receipts (cost was around £1.4k). The van also received a full service when the MOT was completed in June.
The van is a pleasure to drive. Always starts first time, smooth and comfortable. The engine is a bit smelly, but it passed it’s emissions, so I assume it’s because it’s an old diesel. The van has had a lot of attention this last year, from three separate garages, all of whom confirm it is in good condition and will do many more miles to come. I’m disappointed that the rust has appeared this last year and would be attending to that imminently, were I keeping it. I’m selling it because I’ve ended-up with the van following a break-up and am currently using it as my only vehicle, which is not ideal. It needs to be maintained and preserved and sadly, I can’t do that right now.
Please feel free to get in touch to arrange to see the van and have a drive. I’m happy for you to bring a mechanic along to undertake an inspection. The van is sold as seen and returns will not be accepted. The van is advertised on other sites, as well as with a poster in the window.
Thanks for looking!
Converted by the previous owner, who tried his best. The cupboard with the electrics in was a bit messy, but has now been sorted out. The plywood unit is lovely and well-made. The bed is a standard RnR.
RnR bed that sleeps two adults; pop-top bed that wil comfortably sleep an adult and a child or two adults, at a push.
