Renault Master DCI 120
The van has been lovingly refurbished, with a big refresh of suspension and brakes along with a host of other preventative maintenance. In 2021 the van was professionally repainted in blue-grey, which manages to both stand out and fade into the background when you want it to!
A skylight and solar panels are mounted to the roof and the spare wheel has been moved to the rear doors using a welded in carrier.
Converted by myself in 2020, a lot of time and love went into this van build. It boasts a full size double bed with a proper mattress, solar, 75 litres of fresh water, a diesel heater and gas capacity for multiple months on the road!
The walls are insulated with around 60mm of recycled plastic insulation, which has a great insulation value while being immune to the mould problems seen in natural fibres. This is covered with pine tongue and groove finished with danish oil.
Inside you’ll find the full size double bed with a brand new mattress to the rear of the van, with a huge garage space underneath suitable for bikes, watersports equipment or just general gubbins. There are shelves and nooks to the side of the bed to help keep everything in order, and the sleeping area is surrounded by wired in fairy lights for that extra cosy vibe.
In the living area there is a 2 seat sofa, which opens to reveal a Dometic compressor fridge and a large storage space. Opposite is a single seat which houses a Thetford camper toilet. A removable table turns this into a dining area for 3 people.
The kitchen area has 2 hobs and a grill along with a deep sink and a tap fed with water via a filtration system ensuring the water is safe to drink at all times. There’s a huge storage space above the cab and a vertical cupboard at the end of the kitchen. The doors are built from recycled pallet boards with iron fittings and hemp rope handles.
Power is provided by both 300w of solar on the roof and a DC/DC charger, meaning the solar and the alternator both charge the leisure and starter batteries, so no risk of flat batteries and plenty of juice on a cloudy day. The leisure battery, solar controller and fuse panel are mounted under the bed, with all wiring neatly concealed. Switches, the battery monitor and the control for the diesel heater are mounted in the living area at the foot of the bed.
Gas is provided by a locker under the kitchen with copper lines running concealed up to the cooker. The locker is big enough for a 2.7kg Calor cylinder, and a Campingaz adapter is also included.
The van carries 75 litres of fresh water in the garage area, with a 30psi inline pump, accumulator and 10 inch filter housing.
