Late 2002 Ford Transit Mk6 LWB H3 – 2.4L TDCI
Only 27,600 miles on the clock
Gurney might be an older model but with that comes a simple solid, very reliable engine that has only driven 27,600 miles so far. This engine will outlive any of the newer over sensitive engines out there today. The engine is chain driven so no expensive belt replacements are even needed.
We have had the van fully serviced, health checked and MOTβd which it passed with flying colours.
Ex local charity mini bus hence the low mileage, its average millage per year was just over 1,000 miles. The engine is like new!
Fully serviced including all filters and inspection, it was serviced in house by the charity before this.
We had it MOT’d when we first purchased the van January 2024, it passed with no advisories except a light bulb which we had replaced. It will come with a new 12 month MOT following a deposit, if you want to drive away the same day with the remainder of its current MOT we will take Β£150 off of the sale price.
The bottom half of the van has been professionally resprayed with textured anti scratch raptor black paint and black wheels, this van looks awesome!
4 belted seats, 2+1 set up at the front with an extremely comfortable captains driver seat. There is also 1 extra removable belted seat the clips into the floor behind the the front passenger seats.
We kept the cassette deck! and have even added a collection of driving classics, it just feels right and the speakers are amazing!
We have also added android auto / car play which includes bluetooth and satnav and parking sensors. This build has always been about a blend of the latest tech mixed with a modern classic
Meet Gurney the latest campervan built by Graig Barn Campers.
Named simply because of his original licence plate GU52 RNY
Gurney is our most unique and hands on build to date. All the timber used for the furniture framing, ceiling and trim is from trees grown locally to our workshop, milled on a 200 year old sawmill still in operation just a mile away from us. All thickness, planing, finishing and staining was then complete in our workshop. This is a very low carbon build.
Being a Ford Transit built in a time when they were actually manufactured in the UK, Gurney can truly fly the made in Britain flag both inside and out.
The layout of the woodland inspired interior has been based around the 360 degree views you get from all the surrounding windows. You wont find a big bulky mostly unused shower enclosures in this van.
Gurney is all about ample floor space, huge social seating space, an absolutely massive super king bed and views, views, views from every corner of the room.
Gurney isnβt lacking in the latest tech either, heβs Gas free thanks to the massive 280ah Lithium leisure battery powering a smart induction cooking hob, USB fast charging, Renogy smart hub power management and soft LED mood lighting throughout.
Is it ‘Off-Grid’ ready
Of course, all of our campers are built to avoid campsites. Gurney has 480 Watts of solar on the roof with a Renogy 50amp MPPT solar chargerand a Renogy 50 amp battery to battery charger to keep the fast charging lithium battery charged up.
Gas free cooking through electric induction (no gas top ups needed). 65L Fridge Freezer with app control, 50L of fresh water which can easily be increased thanks to a simple easy fill Jerry can system (fill up from anywhere not just where you can park a van)
My personal favorite ‘off-grid’ feature on Gurney is his 95% complete black out one way tinted windows. Perfect for stealth camping but equally enjoyable on campsite… Sit back on Gurneys massive sofa and spy on all the campsite arguments π
The Kitchen
The worktop is made from lightweight softwood floorboards with vinyl tiled splash back. The raised circular sink not only looks great, being surface mounted it frees up storage space underneath. A 12V fresh water pump supplies water to the stylish black swivel tap. Kitchen storage include 2 large cupboards and 3 deep soft close drawers hidden behind a single door panel. You will also find wall cubbies and an overhead shelf with bungy to keep your coffee stash safe on the open road.
As mentioned previously this camper has an electric induction cooking hob, this smart hob detects when a pan has been removed and instantly turns off, it turns back on as soon as the pan is returned. As well as being ultra safe its also very efficient on power.
Storage
Large removable swivel table that sits between the sofas
Huge under sofa chest storage on both sides, 190cm x 40 x 50 cm and 120 x 40 x 50cm, over head units, huge over cab storage with interior light, shoe storage flap behind the double passenger seat.
Large and versatile seating / sleeping area which works in the following configurations – 2 large 4 seater sofas, 1 large U shaped sofa, remove the back rests to make 2 bunk beds (200cm x 60cm , flip out the bed board to create 1 super king size bed 200cm Long x 170cm Wide. All options keep all the windows clear for taking in the views.
