VW Transporter T28 Campervan Conversion Only 52,300 miles

I am open to sensible offers. However this van has low milage. It’s not uncommon to see similarly priced vans with 100,000+ miles on the clock. It is a high quality conversion with some expensive add ons such as the halo ceiling, van shades, Wifi and underslung water tank which are rarely present in other conversions.

The conversion is based on a 2015 Transporter T5.1 102bhp which has been re-mapped by Pendle to approx. 160bhp which makes it a real pleasure to drive.

Full Service History.

Oil change and MOT is due in a couple of weeks and will be done before sale.

Very reliable vehicle during ownership with the only issues being a broken rear coil spring and a wheel speed sensor failure.

The Conversion:

Insulation:
The van walls, ceiling and floor has been fully sound deadened using Silent Coat sound deadening material as well as fully insulated using a combination of thermal stick on mats and recycles plastic bottles in the form of a wool to every nook and cranny possible. Honestly there’s about £800 of sound deadening and insulation in this van. The walls, ceiling and floor have all be sound deadened and insulated with the cab doors being sound deadened (can not fit insulation due to window mechanisms.

Power:
The van is fitted with a 100Ah leisure battery under the driver seat which is charged by a CTEK B2B charger from the starter battery. Also fitted is a CTEK mains charger for charging the battery while hooked up to shore power. The battery does us good for 2-3 days powering the fridge, lights, heating etc with a bit of driving in between which recharges. Both CTEK chargers are Lithium compatible should you wish to upgrade the battery and the B2B charger has a built in MPPT controller so will also accept solar directly.

The van has 4 USB sockets fitted and a 12V socket for charging or powering devices. There is a mains socket fitted for when connected to shore power.

Water:
A 60L underslung tank has been fitted under the van with an easy access filling point at the rear and includes a water level meter.

Heating:
A diesel heater is fitted under the van just below the drivers seat with heat piped up to a vent just behind the driver seat. This is fueled directly from the vehicles diesel tank so no need to worry about smelly fuel or spillages in the living space. Whilst the diesel heater uses very little fuel, the stand pipe is fitted in a way that it can not completely drain your fuel tank.

Entertainment:
A Pioneer DAB/FM/Bluetooth head unit with Apple Carplay is fitted. I have also fitted a wireless Carplay module so there is no need to plug your phone in for this to work. Front speakers have been upgraded to Phoenix Gold mids in the doors and Phoenix Gold Tweeters on the dash much improving the sound quality without adding amps and subwoofers. In the rear are a couple of Pioneer speakers which are connected to the stereo when driving but disconnect and connect to a bluetooth module in the rear at the flick of a switch. This allows for streaming music etc in the rear when parked up or for watching a movie in bed with good quality stereo sound.

Hidden away under the dash is a 4G wireless router which connects to a roof mounted 4G antenna. This requires a 4G data sim and if you have a 4G signal then the van has it’s own Wifi access point and router. This is useful for sharing your data but also helps with signal in poor signal areas as the antenna is mounted on the roof which will receive a stronger signal than your phone inside a fully insulated metal box on wheels.

Living Area:
Not your traditional VW layout. After initially converting to the traditional layout side cupboard and rock n roll bed in 2020 we felt that it didn’t make the best use of the available space and changed our layout to the U-Shape layout in 2022. This allows for a more comfortable seating area during the day, either with or without a table but easily converts to a full width (155cm) bed at night. That a foot wider than a 3/4 Rock n Roll bed.

The living area is lit by 6 bright but dimmable LED lights as well as a lovely Halo roof for beautiful ambient lighting in a colour of your choice. 2 x bluetooth fed speakers are also mounted in to the ceiling.

For privacy all of the rear windows have been fitted with thermal pull down Van Shades. These not only look far superior to traditional van curtains but helps with heat loss and condensation build up on the windows.

Front passenger seat has bee upgraded from an uncomfortable double to a single captains seats which swivels to face the rear and also includes a lock box at it’s base ideal for storing valuables while away from the van. It’s not huge but plenty of space for wallet, phones, camera etc.

Storage:
There are a number of storage cupboards under the seats. A large cupboard to at the rear with access from the back as well as the living space. This houses a Porta Potti toilet with ample space either side.

A large cupboard under the left seat with a smaller cupboard under the right seat. The right seat also has a large drawer and an additional cupboard accessible when the sliding door is open (ideal for storing emergency equipment like jacks, tools, tent tens etc.

There is plenty of cupboard space under the sink with a small drawer type space under the hob, ideal for cutlery, remotes etc.
