High-Specification Off-Grid Camper with Low Mileage

This was professionally designed and built for personal use. The builder is myself (Nate Murphy) a qualified industrial designer and expert in van design and build. I have spent years living in vans so I know which design features really matter when it comes to van living. This van is designed to be highly practical and ideal for longer-term live/work travel. Due to my current lifestyle (too much work and too little play) in the 2 years since its completion, it has only had about 3 months of actual ‘living’ use so all aspects of the interior are in great condition.

KEY BENEFITS: This van provides an (almost) king-size bed, table seating for four, a huge kitchen surface and an internal shower/toilet—delivered with a totally open design making the van feel as spacious as physically possible. The electrical system, with 590W of solar, and a whopping 400AmpHr Lithium batters with quality Victron components means that you are unlikely to run out of power. 140L of water storage (dual pump system) means you can go for long trips without having to find sources of water to top up your tanks. The internal hot shower & toilet, air heater—powered by a refillable LPG system—means that the van is pleasurable to be in no matter the weather.

THIS CONVERSION WAS DESIGNED TO THE FOLLOWING PRINCIPLES:
– Efficient and convenient van living; a high spec electrical system for off-grid working, large water storage, few or easy daily actions make for a low-admin vanlife experience.
– Convenience and ease of use: For example, the fixed bed means you do not make and remake a bed every-day, while a 20-second change allows a dinner table (seating 4) to be set-up. Likewise, greywater can be directed out of the van when it is safe to do so—saving time and effort in dealing with it. Details like the side window shutters, which are incredibly fast to use, and enable ventilation without affecting privacy. There are many such design considerations in this van.
– Maximise the feeling of space: Avoid the ‘closed in’ feel of many vans. By being extremely efficient in space, where every centimetre counts, the van feels spacious. On rainy days, when you are cooped up, this van is a great place to hang out in.
– Beautiful lighting: The lighting in this van has several options with indirect lighting options for both the kitchen and the bed. These allow the van to range from a low-lit cozy paradise to a well-lit van for doing day-to-day things.
– Comfort: The bed is a custom-made memory foam mattress. All cushions and upholstery is done with high quality fabrics and upholstery foam that will be long-lasting.

HIGH-QUALITY MATERIALS
This van conversion has been hand-crafted using high-quality materials. A mix of pine, redwood, and oak with hardwood ply. These solid materials mean that they can be refinished and refreshed over time – allowing the van to always look great even with a bit of wear and tear. (There is not a single piece of laminated chipboard in this van!)

Designed for year-round live & work capability. Don’t underestimate the importance of a high-spec electrical system if you are travelling outside of summer months and need to use the van for remote work!

GAS SYSTEM—HEATING & COOKING:

– Copper pipe throughout (with the exception of short length that enables easy maintenance of hob)
– Manifold to switch on water heater, air heater and hob
– Gas Level Indicator (inside van)

AMPLE STORAGE:
– Electronic Safe for valuables (with back-up key)
– Over-bed storage for clothes
– Large over kitchen shelving
– Spice Rack
– Stuff-hole under seat
– Personal effects drawer
– Large storage compartment under the bed
– Over-cab storage (for occasional access, e.g. additional duvets)
– Large drawer under bed—can be used for dry waste and other storage

TOILET & SHOWER (INTERNAL):
– Internal hot shower (that converts out of Kitchen Counter
– Draws from a dedicated 70l water tank (prevents running out of drinking water by accident)
– Propex Hot Water Heater (LPG Powered)
– You can use any cassette or portable compost toilet with this van (it lives within the shower area) but it depends on what you prefer. Currently, there is a new Trelino Compost toilet ready to use.

HIGHLY EFFECTIVE VENTILATION:
The ventilation is a combination of two pill-shaped windows in the side of the van (each side of the bed) and a MaxxAir Deluxe Roof Vent (with remote). This draws airs through the window which means fresh cool air can pass over you as you sleep. At full speed, it rapidly brings in air from outside and does an amazing job of cooling the van. The side windows have black-out wooden shutters but the design enables airflow even when closed.

HOW TO BUY
– The van will be in Spain (north of Barcelona) until I bring it back to the UK (Cornwall) in late spring (first MOT due on 29th June). If you are a serious buyer and want to view it in Spain, we are 2 hours from Barcelona and we would be happy to put you up for the night (or of course, you can use the van if you buy it). In general, hire cars are typically (very) cheap outside of the peak season.
– Otherwise, you can wait until I bring it to the UK in Spring for viewings.
– If you make an offer (that is accepted) and want to reserve the van, we can do so with a £500 deposit with the rest paid on the day of pick-up via bank transfer.
