Archibald

Description of Beds: Archibald sleeps up to two adults and one child. He has a full double fixed bed with a deep memory foam mattress, 135cm x 190cm, and the bench seating that converts into a small third bed, 60cm x 185cm, suitable for a small adult or child. Description of Seating: There are two fixed, belted seats in the front cab, both with headrests. There are two sofa bench style seats in the main living area next to the bed. A sturdy wooden pull out table can be pulled out from under the bed to form a table between the seats. Description of Electrical Setup: Archibald is fully off-Grid so please note no 240v sockets or electrical hook up, only USB points and 12v chargers. His battery is powered by a 440w solar set up or by the engine whilst you drive (through a split charge relay). Archibald has parking sensors, a reversing camera and sat nav making him very easy to drive and manoeuvre. About the area: Archibald lives in the sunny seaside town of Worthing, with direct public transport to Gatwick Airport, London and other nearby towns like Brighton, Arundel and Petworth. Devil's Dyke and the South Downs National Park are on the doorstep. He is based in the perfect location if you are wanting to explore Devon and Cornwall. If you come by train, Archibald is a 7 minute walk from East Worthing Station or a short taxi ride from Worthing Station. Worthing is a fantastic place to start your adventure with the options of heading North, East or West. Parking: There is plenty of parking available on our quiet residential streets. A visitors permit is required but we will organise this for you, or you can park for free just a 5-10 minute walk away Cooking Equipment: Archibald has everything you could need to cook up a feast thanks to the two gas hobs and the built-in oven and grill. He has everything from traditional tin camping mugs, melamine bowls, dining plates and bowls, cutlery, 2 plastic wine glasses, chopping board, kettle, frying pan, large and small saucepan, 3 knives, cooking spoons, tin opener, corkscrew/bottle opener, utensils, pizza slicer and much more. Archibald also has a front opening 42L fridge, a stove-top espresso machine, a colander, cleaning supplies, tea towels, hand soap, bin, bin bags, small broom, tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper. There is also a portable single burner gas stove to use outside. Water and Sanitation: Archibald has an outdoor USB charged shower with either a shower curtain hanging from the rear doors or a pop up tent that it can go inside. The Thetford Porta Potti is stored under one of the bench seats. It can be left and used there or put into the pop up tent outside. Blue chemical and one roll of toilet paper is provided but please buy camping toilet paper only if you need more. Please return Archibald with a sparkling clean toilet. If you do not require the toilet then please let me know and the space can be used for further storage instead. Hot water is heated via the kettle. The fresh and grey water containers, each 25L, are situated under the sink which supplies water to the sink via a pump and there is one spare 25L fresh water in the garage space. Both are easy to remove, empty and refill. There are also some smaller water containers so you should have plenty of water to keep you going for a few days. Audio Equipment: In the cab, Archibald has an entertainment system/radio with bluetooth. There is also a small radio/bluetooth speaker in the living space that can be paired with your phone Type of Heating: A high quality and efficient diesel heater system is fed from a 10L diesel container in the garage area and will keep you warm no matter what the weather. Switch on and Archibald is toasty in minutes. Use the jerry can (provided) if you need to top up the diesel Extra Information: He is also a very dog friendly van with a large den for your dog to sleep, dry off and travel in whilst on the move. There is access to this from inside the living space and from the back doors when they are dirty. It is large enough for 1 big dog (no bigger than a Labrador) or 2 small dogs (spaniel size) to feel comfortable, with plenty of moving space. Please, no more than 1 big sized dog or 2 small dogs max. One thing that we please ask is that no wet and muddy dogs are to go into the main living area until they are completely clean and dry, they must stay in the secure dog den to dry off, thank you. We would be very grateful if you can put the dogs into the den via the back doors in bad weather and not through the living space. 2 drying towels, blankets, water bowl etc are available as an extra option or bring your own. Dogs are very welcome in the living space and on the bed when they are totally clean and dry, we all love a good snuggle, but please bring your own duvet covers and sheets if you do bring your dog. Can we please ask that your dog is Never left alone inside Archibald at any time, this is to avoid any unwanted damage or chewing, they must always be accompanied by a human! Archibald has a fabulous fixed, wind out Fiamma awning, perfect for those sunny days where a little shade is needed. DO NOT use the awning in windy weather. Please absolutely 'NO Smoking' inside Archibald but vaping is allowed even though the sign says no vaping. Conversion Story: ‘Archibald began life as a humble water company van (albeit one with air-con in the cab). He was converted in 2022 by Beluga Van Conversions in Worthing. Like all of BV Conversions, Archibald has been converted to a luxurious standard using reclaimed, recycled and eco-friendly materials. His units are built using unwanted wardrobes and chests of drawers, his worktops are old solid oak floorboards that have been sanded down and stained to match the floor and the flooring is made by floors for paws using recycled materials and is specifically designed for dogs, extremely hard wearing, scratch proof and non slip. He has been insulated using recycled plastic bottle insulation and reclaimed reflective bubble wrap. Archibald oozes style and elegance with his warm cream, green and pink colour palette. Fabulous linen blackout blinds, flowing curtains and fairy lights all help to create an elegant, cosy, light and airy feel, you will never want to leave. There is direct access from the cab to the living space. Archibald has everything you need for that off-grid adventure, but if you fancy a campsite, he is equally at home there too!
