Description of Beds: Bumble has a comfy fixed, no fuss, rear double bed across the full width of the van measuring 185cm x 120cm. The mattress is high quality and super comfy to sleep on. The double bed comes with a fitted sheet, duvet and pillows, with covers ready for your trip included in the price.
Description of Seating: The modern cab area has 2 belted seats with headrests. The single passenger seat can be swapped to a twin seat, giving 3 belted seats if required (please get in touch if wanting this upgrade). The cab also has lovely cold air con for those hot sunny days!
In the rear, there is a double bench seat, housing the off-grid electrical system and extra storage and a single seat over the slide out toilet.
There is also a huge amount of additional storage in the garage area where the included camping chairs and outdoor table are stored.
Description of Electrical Setup: Bumble was designed to be an off-grid camper with a massive 485ah lithium battery which sits inside the bench seat, connected to a 250w solar panel mounted on the roof rails, all controlled by a smart Mppt controller and DC-DC charger.
This 12v battery system provides power to the MaxxFan ceiling extractor fan, the free onboard 4g unlimited wifi network, the lighting (2 main ceiling lights, LED strip lightings under the bed and separate fairy lights for a more cosy feel), the 12v compressor fridge/freezer, the ‘Alexa’, the sink pump, the diesel heater unit and 12 usb charging sockets around the van.
The 12v system was designed for off-grid camping and is easily maintained by the large solar panel connected to the Mppt solar control unit and via the DC-DC charge system when driving. The system can be monitored from inside the van on the remote display unit which shows the level of battery power and the power going and and out of the system.
In addition there is a 2000w pure sine wave inverter connected to the leisure battery providing 230v power when off grid.
When on a campsite, there is an external hook up point on the side of the van providing further 230v power, via a fuse box to 2 double UK 3 pin sockets each with 2 dedicated USB charging ports. The hook up system also has a mains charger which keeps the leisure battery topped up.
About the area: Bumble, like his little sister Bee lives in Warrington, Cheshire and is stored in his own parking spot on the owner's driveway in a quiet residential area. Warrington is a great location in the North West, being only 30 minutes from the bustling cities of Manchester and Liverpool, the historic Roman City of Chester or just over an hour to the Lake District, the Peak District and North Wales.
Parking: If you drive to collect Bumble, you are welcome to leave your car in his normal parking spot on the driveway. If you come by train, Bumbles owners will be able to pick you up from Warrington West, Warrington Central or Warrington Bank Quay railway stations, by prior arrangement. Pick ups from Manchester and Liverpool Airports may be possible but please check before booking.
Cooking Equipment: Bumble has a single and double induction hob in the kitchen area which is powered from either the campsite hook up or the inverter while off grid. In addition, as standard, Bumbles owners provide a Cadac gas barbeque if you prefer outside cooking! They also offer an Ooni woodfired Pizza oven as an added extra, which comes with everything you need to cook your own amazing pizzas outdoors!
There is a full range of cooking equipment, pans, frying pan, kettle, cutlery, utensils, plates, bowls, mugs etc for you to cook up a gourmet meal! Bumble has a washing up bowl, and washing up liquid, sponges, tea towels etc are provided.
Water and Sanitation: In the kitchen area there is a beautiful handmade sink with a copper pipe tap supplying water from the 23 litre on-board water tank in garage area via a 12v pump.
A USB rechargeable outdoor shower and folding bucket are included as standard and a separate shower / toilet / utility tent is available as an add on. Fill the bucket with warm water from the kettle and enjoy a warm outdoor shower. Or be brave and go cold!
There is a portaloo stored in its own pull out drawer unit. This can be used inside the campervan or within the available pop up shower/toilet tent.
Audio Equipment: In addition to the bluetooth enabled stereo head unit, with Apple Car Play & Android Auto in the main cab, there is an ‘Alexa’ speaker in the living area connected to the complimentary ‘unlimited’ on-board 4g+ wifi network. Being unlimited, the wifi is also ideal to chill and binge watch that Netflix series you like. The system provides unlimited internet within the UK.
Type of Heating: Heating is provided by the professionally installed Autoterm diesel heater. The heater provides quick heating and is safe to be left on all night long using very little diesel or 12v power.
Bumble comes with a roll up curtain to close off the cab area and blinds on the 2 side opening windows. In addition, there are extra internal thermal blinds for the windows and an external black out blind for the cab windows.
There is also a fantastic large opening roof window so that you can stargaze from the comfort of your bed, watch the rain or open the window up and access the roof! There is an insulated blackout option for the roof window if you prefer it dark.
Bumble has also sits on brilliant 'All Terrain tyres', so no more getting stuck in the mud! :-)
Conversion Story: Bumble was originally designed with a plain natural wood theme and crafted around a beautiful set of solid oak drawers which provides the base for the kitchen unit. However, following a trip to Marrakech, the owners updated their design to include lots of Moroccan influences, such as bright colours, patterns, layered fabrics and a few items bought in the Moroccan markets!
Bumble is an automatic Vauxhall Movano (same as the Renault Master) with opening windows to both sides giving stunning views. There’s lots of space to relax on the large fixed bed, or just sit in the dining area and watch the world go by.
Being a medium wheelbase, Bumble is big inside, but isn’t much bigger than a large family car and is super easy to drive being an automatic.
Bumbles owners have had lots campervans over many years, after initially owning tents, folding campers and trailer tents. Rich, Nici, Holly and Liv never really found the perfect layout for them. So, they first built ‘Bee’, also available to hire via Quirky Campers and more recently Bumble and Buzz. Since then they have gone on to start their own campervan conversion business @HollysCampers and have built lots of vans for customers!
The whole family, including their dogs Gus and Snoopy, love the outdoors and they are so happy to be able to share that feeling with their customers through renting out their vans.
Whilst they are super proud of all of their vans, Rich does still have a bit of a love affair with the Mazda Bongo and even has his last Bongo tattooed on his arm!
