Saddle up and get ready for epic adventures in Kelpie. Named after the mythical Scottish water horse, this shape shifting 3 berth camper is ready to make a splash! Seeking excitement? Located in the beautiful coastal suburb of Portobello in Edinburgh, Kelpie is the perfect campervan to accompany you on your Scottish quest. Lovingly crafted with many cosy features, including a wood-burner, Kelpie has the ability to shape-shift from a romantic log cabin on wheels to a comfortable base for an active family.

With 3 belted seats, a cosy fixed double bed and seating area that transforms into a single bed - there is plenty of room for all. Take charge in the kitchen and cook on your own terms; with Kelpie’s 2 ring gas hob, grill and oven, you have the option of cooking a 3 course meal or simply banging a pizza in the oven. There is also a refrigerator so whatever you’re having, it can be washed down with a nice cold beer. Don’t forget the pooch, this pet-friendly camper has a large dog bed area and storage for you to tidy away dog food - Bon A-pet-treat!

Kelpie allows you to go off-grid in style, with solar power and diesel heater, you have everything you need to explore the more secluded areas of Scotland.

About the Campervan

Description of Beds: Kelpie sleeps 3 people and 2 dogs. Widths there is a double memory foam mattress (140cm x 175cm). The day time seats turn into a comfortable third bed. Shelf above the bed provides storage for clothes etc. There is also a large dog bed area under the main bed with attachment points for leashes when travelling. Description of Seating: There are 3 belted in the front. Location: Kelpie lives in Edinburgh, at the seaside location of Portobello. Only a 15 min drive from the city centre. Portobello is famous for its laid back vibes and delicious fish and chips! You can drive the gorgeous coastline of East Lothian, which has many highlights. For bird lovers Bass Rock is a must, an island made from volcanic rock with the largest colony of Northern Gannets, while the neighbouring islands that surround it are home to puffins! The neighbouring village of Dunbar is famous for its surfing and water sports. Parking: There is free parking on our street if you wish to leave your car. Cooking Equipment: There is a selection of pots, pans, cutlery, plates and dishes. There is also a coffee maker and kettle. In addition to the two gas hobs inside, there is a grill and oven! Everything you need to clean up after will be provided. Mini Cyclops log burner with over-sized hot plate for slow cooking. Water Facilities: Stainless-steel sink and tap with electric pump for cold water 70L fresh water tank with filter. Outflow for grey water is under the van, a collapsible bucket can be placed underneath when in areas that don't allow grey water drainage e.g. campsite. A shower and toilet as well as a pop up privacy tent can be rented as an add on. Electrics: 1x 68ah LiFOS LiFePO4 lithium battery (equivalent to 120ah AGM battery). Battery has bluetooth built in for monitoring via your phone | 1x 175 watt solar panel keeps the van and starter batteries topped up even in the Scottish Winter | 4x Quick charge USB sockets with touch on/off | 2x USB charging socket in switchboard | Ctek 250SE Dual DC-DC charger with built-in Mppt controller, a great system that charges the van whilst driving as well. Audio Equipment: Hands free bluetooth system lets you connect to your phone, great for google maps and spotify! 4x Quick charge USB sockets with touch on/off 2x USB charging socket in switchboard. Type of Heating: Diesel heater professionally installed with remote control so you can turn up the heat lying in bed. Mini Cyclops log burner from Glastonbury Burners. Keeps the van nice and toasty during the cold winter nights. Log burner has passed all relevant safety checks. With a wood store underneath. Extra Information: Log burner, great for drying clothes quickly for your next adventure. Heating system that you can control from your bed. Lots of extra room for 2 bikes, fishing and hiking equipment. Conversion Story: Meet Kelpie, just like the shape shifting creature of scottish folklore, she also loves exploring the lochs and seas of Scotland, changing from an unassuming van to a beautiful, comfortable and cosy off-grid home at night. She has been lovingly restored by our incredibly talented friend Janine. She was a passion project over lockdown and has been converted for pure comfort whilst adventuring! Her features will ensure you the perfect stay for longer holidays away and her size means you can bring everything you want, (except your bathroom sink, she already has one).

Note: Campervan Hire prices are per 24 hours. The default pick up and drop off time is 2pm. If you request a pick up or drop off outside of this, the owner will quote you for the additional time. Typically this is £12.50 per additional hour.
