About the Campervan
Description of Beds: Bub sleeps up to four people. There is a rock'n'roll double bed downstairs for two people (180x114cm), and there’s space for two up in the pop top (183x102cm). The pop top goes all the way up to give you stacks of head room for cooking and dancing, and has a ‘mezzanine’ sleeping platform that can be pulled down at night to sleep two children or one adult – it's an easy climb up from the front seats. There are blackout curtains throughout for a great night’s sleep.
Description of seating: Bub will take four passengers. There are three belted seats with headrests in the front (including driver), and two further belted seats, with headrests, in the rear. Five seats have three-point belts. Two out of the four passenger seats are suitable for a child car seat using the belt. The front passenger seat is a double ‘Kiravan’ swivel seat with two storage compartments. This seat can be turned 180 to make a lounge area in the main part of the van.
Electrical Setup: Bub has an electrical hook up under the bonnet for easy access. He has a leisure battery, which is trickle-charged by a 100w solar panel on the roof to increase off-grid capabilities. There are two conventional 240v 3-pin plug sockets. The fridge and the 3-pin sockets can be used when Bub is on electric hook up, e.g. at a campsite. There are two 12v ‘cigarette lighter’ sockets, one in the front and one in the living area, four USB charging points in the rear, and three in the front. There are LED downlights throughout.
About the Area: Bub lives in Keswick in the Lake District, and has private off-street parking where you can leave your car while you are on holiday. This means you can drive your own vehicle to the Lakes, or catch the train to nearby Penrith, and Bub will be here waiting for you. The local area is spectacular and is designated as a World Heritage site, so there are stacks of things to see and do locally. There are lots of camping sites nearby to use as a base for exploring the area. Keswick is also on the doorstep of Scotland for easy access to bigger adventures such as the North Coast 500.
Parking: If you drive to collect Bub, you are welcome to leave your car in his normal off-street parking spot. If you come by train, Bub's owners may be able to pick you up from Penrith Railway Station; Penrith is a very convenient station for the North Lakes, and is around a 3 hour direct train journey from London Euston. Please contact Bub's owners directly for pick up prices and timings for your trip.
Cooking Equipment: Bub's owners are avid home chefs, so you won’t be caught short in the kitchen! Bub’s kitchen has a fridge with a mini freezer, double gas hob, and sink with running water. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast, including: tableware for four, a stove-top kettle, cafetiere, pots, pans, sharp knives, chopping boards, corkscrew / bottle opener, tin opener, cooking utensils, peeler, grater and more. There’s also an external connector for a gas BBQ.
Water and Sanitation: There are 2x 10 litre removable water containers under the sink that supply water to the sink via a pump, along with a 10 litre container for grey water from the sink. The fresh water container will be filled on the day you come to collect Bub. We also have a pack-away 'Bivvyloo" which is available as an add-on.
Audio Equipment: Bub's cab has a DAB radio which allows you to connect your mobile via bluetooth so you can always take your music with you on the road.
Heating: Bub has a gas heater to keep you toasty warm at any time, whether you’re tucked up in bed or just back from wild swimming in one of the lakes. It is operated by an easy to use thermostat.
Extra information: Bub’s owners love being out in the mountains, and are very happy to help with any advice you need for trip & activity planning, finding the best places to eat out and more. Please ask us about pick up and drop off times for your dates as we can generally be very flexible. If you're undecided about add-ons don't worry about booking them now, you can decide at the start of your trip.
