About the Campervan
Description of Beds: Doris sleeps up to two people in a full-width, very comfortable, memory foam double bed and the owners can provide luxury Egyptian Cotton bedding, a feather and down duvet and fluffy towels on request. The bed effortlessly converts into a four-seater dinette area using a gas-sprung pedestal.
Description of Seating: Three belted seats in the cab (including driver), all front facing with headrests.
About the area: Doris lives near Truro in Cornwall. She is perfectly located to explore the stunning Cornish coastline, the innumerable beauty spots and some secret spots (that only our clients will get to hear about) dotted around the county. Please feel free to take Doris over the Tamar if you wish to explore further a field or to enjoy a festival in style.
Parking: If you drive to collect Doris, secure undercover parking can be provided for the duration of the hire period at no extra charge. If you come by rail/air, Doris’s owners can provide transfers from Truro and St Austell railway stations and Newquay Airport.
Cooking Equipment: In addition to the two ringed induction hob inside, there is an optional compact BBQ that you can use to cook outside. Doris has everything you could need to cook up a feast, including: mugs, plates, bowls and cutlery for four, two crystal-look acrylic wine glasses, champagne flutes, large tumblers, a chopping board, electric kettle, toaster, frying pan, large and small saucepans, various cooking utensils. Doris also has a collapsible washing up bowl, bucket, plate rack and a dustpan and brush.
Water Facilities: Doris has a 70-litre cold water tank and 22 litre hot water tank. These feed the kitchen sink and the outside shower and are filled from a single water inlet point on the outside of the van. The hot water is heated by either the diesel heater or an electric immersion heater, which can be used even when off-grid. We also provide a solar shower for those balmy summer days. Waste water drains into the grey water tank slung under the floor. This is easy to empty into an appropriate disposal point via the tank's drain tap. There is also a portable toilet available on request.
Audio Equipment: Doris has a radio, CD player and Bluetooth in the cab. In the main living space, there is an optional portable Bluetooth speaker. For those who enjoy relaxing with a movie after a long day exploring, Doris can be hired with an integrated projector and 55” retractable screen. The projector accepts HDMI and USB connections allowing files to be played from a memory stick or streamed from services like Netflix via your phone or tablet.
Type of Heating: Doris has under floor heating, powered by a diesel heater that lives under the van. Fuel is taken directly from the main diesel tank so there is no need for separate top-ups. The heating can be programmed to come on and go off at set times or set temperatures, using a thermostat; just as in most homes. This type of radiant heating system may take a little longer to heat than other types, but it warms the fabric of the van, rather than blowing warm air. Therefore, once up to temperature, Doris stays warm and provides a comfortable living space at any time of year!
Conversion Story: Following my acquisition by Dave and Helen Jeffries of Country Road Campers I met my new owners at the 2022 Quirky Camp. Mark and Fi have been committed “vanners” for years, starting way back in the 1980’s when they spent 3 months travelling around Europe in their converted Morris 1000 van. After admiring my brother Floyd’s interior décor and state of the art spec Mark and Fi decided to ask Dave and Helen to pull out all the stops to get me up, running and ready to go for my new life in Cornwall and beyond. I’m brand new on the inside, clean and tidy on the outside and very well behaved! We are all very excited about what the future holds, so why not give me a try – I’m sure you won't be disappointed!
Pets: Doris is pet friendly subject to prior negotiation regarding the number, size and breed of your furry friend(s).
Last but by no means least, Doris has a surprise being kept nicely chilled in the fridge!
