About the Campervan
Description of Beds: Silvia was built for comfort so we have made sure she has a full king-size latex pocket sprung mattress in the main bedroom. This measures: 180cm by 200cm. There is also a single child's bed that can be made up using the sofa cushions and dining table. This measures 170 cm by 70cm. Bedding can be provided to make it even more comfy and cosy.
Description of Seating: Silvia can seat 3 people in the cab all with seat belts. In the main living area there are two sofa-like seats, perfect for snuggling up on the less sunny days.
Description of Electrical Setup: Silvia is full of electric socket points. Each side of the main bed has a double socket and double USB Port. Then in the kitchen area there is a pop-up socket with a further 3 sockets and 2 USB ports. This can be especially helpful when camping with friends in a tent to give them an electric supply. Silvia has two electrical systems but is not set up for off grid due to her battery capabilities. A hook up system, so when hooked up to a campsite she runs the same as your house would. An inverter and leisure battery system meaning the fridge will stay on when you are driving, keeping those all-important beers nice and cold!
About the area: Silvia lives in Lennoxtown, on a quiet residential street normally hidden away on her garden driveway. She overlooks the Campsie Fells, the gateway to the Highlands and is always seeking adventure.
Parking: If you drive to collect Silvia, you are welcome to leave your car in her normal spot. If you come by train, Silvia's owners will be able to pick you up from Lenzie station. Even a trip to Glasgow Airport can be arranged.
Cooking Equipment: ‘In addition to the three gas hobs inside, she has a gas oven which is very useful for making toast in the mornings. Silvia has everything you could need to cook up a feast, including: 4 mugs, 4 glasses and 4 bowls, 4 large dining plates, cutlery for 4, 2 wine glasses, chopping board, kettle, large and small frying pan, large and small saucepan. There are bamboo cooking utensils, 2 sharp knives, tin opener, corkscrew/bottle opener. Silvia also has a stove-top kettle as well as a colander, washing up bowl, and small dustpan and brush’.
Water and Sanitation: Silvia has a 45 litre water tank that can be used for washing up and filling the kettle. She has a grey water tank to collect all waste water but we will deal with that for you. She has space for a Porta Potti that is under one of the seats that is available to hire. She does not have any hot water or a shower as we prefer to stay in sites with washing facilities.
Audio Equipment: Silvia has a radio and we will provide you with a radio transmitter so you can play your own music via Bluetooth. This is plugged in through the cigarette lighter and has its own station.
Type of Heating: Silvia has excellent insulation but no heating to speak of however, we do have an electric heater for hire.
Extra Information: Silvia has been a wonderful adventure companion for us. I hope she serves you well on your travels and adventures.
Conversion Story: Silvia has been lovingly converted by Laura, a local school teacher, and Graham an Electrician. She started life as a race van and you could smell the four stroke engines as soon as you opened her up. But now she has a new lease of life as a beautiful camper and smells of wood and campfires.
There were many weekends spent in the wind and rain getting her up and ready, including a rush to finish the dining table and sofa area so we could eat dinner there on Laura's birthday.
She is a beautiful blend of Graham's clever engineering and Laura's creativity, passion for cohesive colours and interior design. We chose the colour scheme and the Bee theme as we felt it had a calming effect and this was a big part of why we built Silvia to give us a place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.
