About the Campervan

Description of Beds: Elsie is a 4-berth camper; there is a king-size bed at the back that can sleep two adults (3 if you don’t mind sharing!) and a pull-out seating area at the front suitable for children up to 140cm tall. There is also the option of a purpose-designed cab bed mattress at the front that can sleep an adult. Description of Seating: There are four belted seats in Elsie all with headrests. There are three in the cab and a rear-facing seat just behind the passenger side. Once parked up for dinner and lounging there are two long sofa-style benches in the rear can comfortably seat up to six people available with a large table that can be stowed when not used. At the front of the van, there is a smaller seating area with seating for 4 and a smaller table at the front suitable for quick lunch stops or drinks. Description of Electrical Setup: The van has a highly advanced electrical setup making it ideal for both off-grid and camper site usage. The van boasts 400 watts of solar panels, a 1500w inverter, battery charger and 2 large leisure batteries; under normal running conditions there is no need to ever plug in (ie. use of fridge/freezer, combi boiler and phone charging). The batteries also charge when the engine is running so if it is being driven daily then even moderate use is unlikely to flatten the batteries. If you wish to stop at a campsite then a hook-up is available, including a 10m hook-up cable, that can also be used to power the combi boiler without using gas. Inside the van are 240v, USB and USB-C socks. About the area: Elsie lives in the leafy residential area of Stapleton in Bristol on quiet and safe side streets. You can get a feel for driving the camper before hitting the main roads. The ideal place to meet is by the entrance of Stoke Park where you can park alongside the van to load before moving the car and setting off. Parking: If you drive to pick up Elsie there is plenty of space to leave your vehicle on safe, well-lit, residential roads where Elsie is normally parked. If you arrive by train then Bristol Parkway is only a short 2 ½ mile journey away. Transport options include bus, taxi or even electric scooter. The m4 metro bus leaves Parkway every 30mins or an off-peak Uber will cost around £8. Cooking Equipment: Elsie has a fully equipped kitchen, complete with a three-burner hob, sink, fridge freezer 2 drawers and 2 large cupboards. You will find 4-off cereal bowls, plates both large and small, a variety of pans, a colander, chopping boards, 6-off cutlery, knives, tongs, a spatula, a serving spoon, a masher, a tin opener and corkscrew/bottle opener. There is a fully stocked kitchen rack including 4 mugs, 4 small and 4 large glasses, a comprehensive selection of herbs and spices, tea, coffee and washing-up liquid. A drying rack, tea towels, mop with bucket and dustpan and brush are also provided to make keeping the van clean and tidy a doddle. Water and Sanitation: : Elsie’s real highlight is its self-contained shower and hot water combi boiler. In 15 minutes you and your family can be waking up to a lovely hot shower and the 75-litre underslung water tank will be sufficient for your daily needs. The hot water system also feeds the kitchen, making washing up easy, and an external shower by the side door to enjoy in warmer weather or washing muddy boots. The tank is filled via an external water point so you only need to pull alongside a tap for easy refilling refill using the included 10m food-safe hose. Wastewater can be collected in an underslung 50-litre grey water tank and drained when needed if you are somewhere where it cannot be released below. The shower includes a built-in sit-down toilet with a cassette system for easy and hygienic disposal. Audio Equipment: The cab radio is Bluetooth compatible so you can connect your phone to play music. Type of Heating: Elsie is built to keep you warm through the colder months of the year. There is a 6KW combi boiler powered by a 25-litre underslung LPG tank that is easily refilled at petrol stations. There are air outlets at both the front and rear seating areas, as well as in the shower, which can also be used to dry wet clothes using the built-in clothesline. Conversion Story: ‘Elsie began life as a humble delivery van covering many miles up and down the M6. We bought her after a long and careful hunt. After much deliberation on the concept, we choose a layout that suited family needs whilst being fully equipped for comfort and converted her in 2020. It was always our intention to have a fun and quirky camper van making as best use of colour and natural materials, whilst being equipped with all the ‘mod cons’ to make camper van-ing a pleasure. Warning: The payload of this vehicle is 325kg. This is below the Quirky Campers recommended payload of 460kg for a vehicle with 4 belted seats. Drivers need to be aware that thetotal weight of driver, passengers and baggage must be below 325kg to keep the vehicle within its legal Max Allowed Mass (MAM) of 3500kg

Elsie has everything. Tea, proper coffee, a comfortable place to sleep, head room (I'm 6'3''). A working freezer, fridge. The solar panels mean you shouldn't need the electric hook up but if you just want to watch telly all weekend you can plug in. The loo and shower and hot water are great. There's heating and cooling. Cups, plates, everything you'll need to cook and three hobs so you can make a good meal and a cuppa. Ok so there isn't an air fryer and you can't drive her underwater but other than that you'll have a great trip in a surprisingly economical camper. She looks great and didn't disappoint. We can't wait to hire her again so I hope this review doesn't work too well for her owners
