About the area: Fern lives in Templecombe in Somerset and is only a 5-minute walk from Templecombe train station which is on the London Waterloo to Exeter train line, collection from the train station can be organised with prior notice. Fern is located only a 7-minute drive from the A303 Wincanton junction, providing easy access to destinations in the South and West of England. Description of Beds: Fern sleeps two adults in a comfortable memory foam fixed bed at the rear of the van measuring 180 x 140cm. At the end of the bed there are two small wall mounted cupboards with shelves and USB charging points either side. Description of Seating: The vehicle cab is equipped with a single driver’s seat and a single passenger seat, both belted with headrests. The seating in the living area comprises two bench seats opposite each other with ample storage underneath, which can comfortably seat 3 adults and a single side seat just inside the door. There is a large slide-out dining table between the benches so that you can all sit around the table for meals, drinks, games and to work. Description of Electrical Setup: The electrical set-up is powered by high capacity 250 AMP leisure batteries, charged by the 120W solar panel and a vehicle split charger when the engine is running. There is also a 240V hook-up for use at campsites for your 240V appliances as required. The van can also be used fully off-grid with sufficient capacity to give you power even when the sun isn't shining. There are numerous USB and 12V charging points throughout the van and cab giving you the ability to charge all your accessories. There are a range of lights throughout the van giving flexibility to create a relaxed atmosphere so that you can have plenty of lighting when chopping veggies on the worktop, reading in bed or playing a game of cards. Parking: If you drive to collect Fern, depending on the length of the vehicle you will be welcome to leave your car on the driveway where Fern is usually parked, or there is on street parking with no restrictions. If you come by train, collection can be arranged from Templecombe station subject to availability and prior arrangement. Cooking Equipment: Fern has everything that you need to cook up a feast, with a two-ring gas hob and everything your kitchen at home has, enough plates, bowls, cutlery, and glasses to host a party of four and all the utensils you need to cook up a storm. Pots, pans, a chopping board, sharp knives, grater, colander and kettle. We will also provide some basic provisions such as salt, pepper, tea bags, oils etc. There is also an undermount, large stainless-steel sink with a fresh cold-water supply as well as a pull-out drawer with a 12-volt fridge. Fern has a slide out dining table that can be used at any extension length, which slides back under the bed when you’ve finished using it. You can also hire a fire-pit which doubles up as a BBQ if you prefer alfresco cooking. Water and Sanitation: Fern has a 66-litre fixed freshwater tank under the van which is great for off-grid campervan adventures. It supplies water to the kitchen sink via the tap (for hot water you will need to boil a kettle), it has an external filling point on the right-hand side of the van and comes with a freshwater hose so that it is easy to top up your water supplies. There is a 59L wastewater tank which is also stored under the van. This can easily be drained using the tap on the underside of the left of the van. We have a 15L portable toilet that is stored under the single bench seat in the main living space of the van. Please add as an 'add on' if you would like to include this feature (an external pop-up privacy tent can be provided to house the toilet if required). Audio Equipment: Fern’s living space is equipped with a Sonos bluetooth speaker, offering great sound quality from your mobile devices. The speaker is USB chargeable for endless entertainment and is portable so can be taken outside for alfresco dining. Fern also has a built-in radio/CD player in the cab. Type of Heating: Fern has a diesel-powered heater which is fuelled from a small fuel tank in the garage. It can be run off-grid and can be controlled with the thermostat so that you can set your preferred temperature. Extra Information: Fern is a spacious, comfortable van which can be used on or off grid enabling you to travel wherever the wind takes you. Kitted out with an awning, and large under-the-bed ‘garage’ space, she’s a great explorer base and has a huge amount of space for climbing gear, ski gear, surfboards and other sporting equipment. She comes with camping chairs and a fire pit to allow you to stargaze to your heart's content. Being CAZ and LEZ compliant means the world is your oyster - where will you take her next? There are a number of optional extras available to select to further increase your comfort, adventure and luxury, including camping chairs, a table, firepit, windbreak, and pop up privacy pod. Conversion Story: Fern was purchased in 2023 after a long hunt for the perfect van, as a partly converted van she had previously travelled around Europe with her owner and dog surfing. Since purchasing her we have lovingly updated and added some more homely and luxurious features whilst maintaining her rustic character. We wanted something that was original and not off-the-shelf, we fell in love with her wooden rustic finish and added soft tones of green to her interior to make her feel cosier. Fern now has a large wind-out awning for those challenging British summer times, giving you the ability to be outside when the weather is less than perfect. One of Fern’s more quirky features are the hooks that adorn the ceiling for storing your surfboard when travelling.
