About the Campervan

About the area: Quirky Campers promote and encourage local adventures which are not only kinder to the planet, they're also kinder to the campervan. Ivy is located in Market Harborough on the edge of Leicestershire, bordering Northamptonshire. Locally there are many Campervan friendly beauty spots, reservoirs and parks. Market Harborough is conveniently located in the middle of the UK, near the A47, A14 and has close links to the M1/M6/M69. Ivy has travelled to Norfolk, the Lake District, Wales and Cornwall and travels well on the motorway if you are heading further afield. Description of Beds: Ivy can comfortably sleep 2 adults and 1 child, or if you’re happy to squeeze, the rear bed is big enough for 3 adults. The kitchen area has a bench seat which can easily sleep a younger child at night. The rear bed is bigger than a king-sized bed, at 174 cm x 194 cm. The rear bed also folds up to make 2 benches which expand the living space in the day and allow for a more private area in the back. Description of Seating: Ivy has 3 belted seats in the front (including driver) with headrests. Ivy is very flexible with seating inside, there is a bench seat in the kitchen area, and the rear area easily converts into a living space with 2 long bench seats in the day time. If you make friends on the campsite, you can comfortably seat 5 or 6 people at once inside Ivy. Description of Electrical Setup: Ivy has a split charge relay and 1x leisure battery which charges whilst driving or whenever the engine is running and allows for power when parked up. This is currently the only way of charging the leisure battery, for longer journeys it is enough to get the fridge cold and ticking over. There is a separate electrical system for electrical hook-ups if you are staying at a campsite, this system powers the 6x 3-pin (UK) sockets to charge devices, the plug-in heaters or use appliances as if you were at home. Parking: There is sufficient parking both on-road and off-road when picking up Ivy, so you are able to leave your car, confident it will be monitored by a Ring Doorbell. Ivy is located around 1.5 miles from Market Harborough train station and also close to bus routes, if that is the preferred method of travel. Cooking Equipment: Ivy is equipped with a dual hob gas burner that you can use to cook inside, included are all items you will need to cook up a feast, including camping mugs, bowls, dining plates, cutlery, plastic wine glasses, a chopping board, 2x hob kettles, a frying pan, large and small saucepans, and a stovetop coffee pot. There are utensils, spoons, 1 sharp knife, and a bottle opener. When the electric hook-up is connected, Ivy also has a microwave and a toaster available. For cleaning, there is a washing up bowl, cleaning products and a small dustpan and brush. Water and Sanitation: Ivy has a medium sized tank attached to the kitchen sink. This is a 25-litre removable water tank in the kitchen that supplies water to the sink via a pump. This is mainly used for washing and cooking, separate 5L bottles of water are recommended for drinking for hygiene and additional quantity on board, these can be provided if needed. Audio Equipment: There is a standard Mercedes audio system in the van which can connect to your phone if required. To play your own music there is a FM transmitter which can be connected to via Bluetooth this also has USB ports for charging. Ivy also has a TV in the rear which can be powered with either the 12V leisure battery or the electric hook-up. Type of Heating: Ivy has no fixed heating installed, however don't let this stop you travelling in the chillier months. There is a brand new rotating plug-in heater which works well when the electrical hook-up is connected. Whilst off-grid, she stays warm and cosy when all closed up, especially with people inside. We have slept in Ivy in temperatures less than 10ºC with just the duvet and blanket and we have been perfectly comfortable. Pet Information: Ivy is absolutely pet friendly and Bella (Ivy's regular companion) cannot wait to share her space. There are some doggy accessories included in the van, such as pop-up bowls, tennis balls and a stash of emergency poop bags. One of the best bits of campervanning is opening the door and letting Bella explore wherever we are. Extra Information: Ivy is her owner's pride and joy and she is ready for you to take on a journey of a lifetime. Having been previously a delivery van for a factory and stored in a warehouse, she is happy to be set free in the wild and loves a motorway to stretch her diesel legs to take you somewhere beautiful. Conversion Story: Ivy began life as a workhorse for a company down south, and was stored inside which kept her in great condition and made her a great candidate for campervan conversion! Ivy was bought by a gentleman who hand-crafted the interior using DIY skills to make a living area, kitchen and fixed sleeping area. Ivy was purchased by her current owners last year and given a revamp, changing the layout to be more flexible, adding wooden panelling and a good lick of paint plus a new electric and gas system. Ivy is always a working progress and, in the future will be getting some fixed heating and solar panels. About the Owner: Ivy’s owners love getting outdoors and having an adventure. Ivy has travelled to many places and creates unique memories; waking up 6 feet away from Lake Windermere to watch the glorious sunrise. Ivy was purchased from the Quirky Campers sales pages, after her owners fell in love with campervanning while hiring Valerie from Quirky Campers. Ivy has taught her owners many things, including a whole new set of DIY skills. Ivy is shabby chic, made for practicality to be used and enjoyed, and not worried about. We hope that all the memories made in Ivy will be special ones.

We had a brilliant week in Ivy as a family of 3. It came equipped with pretty much everything we needed, was easy to drive, and was much comfier than we had anticipated a campervan to be. Many thanks to Mikey!
