About the area: Rhubarb is available to hire from Edinburgh city centre, Scotland's beautiful capital. The ideal location to collect and explore the Scottish Islands and Highlands, or stay local to Edinburgh; head down to the beautiful borders or explore the East Lothian Coast. Choose the sustainable slow road, which is not only kinder to the planet but lets you slow down to truly appreciate the natural beauty Scotland has to offer! Description of Beds: Rhubarb sleeps 2 in a full size double bed measuring 135cm x 188cm. The extra tall height of the van allows those over 6ft+ to stand comfortably. Description of Seating: Rhubarb has three belted seats in the front (including driver) with headrests, and the living space is perfectly comfortable for two. Description of Electrical Setup: Rhubarb has 2x leisure batteries connected to a solar panel on the roof and which will also charge whilst driving - there's enough power to keep you running and off-grid for exploring. For those that need more power there is the option to add the extra 3 pin plug in sockets to the hire - for laptop charging, and equipment that needs to higher power (hairdryers etc). Rhubarb has x4 USB charging ports around the bed - 2 under the window and x2 under the reading lights. There are also x2 USB-C charging points beneath the bed window. Rhubarb has been designed to be completely off-grid without having to pay the extra for electric hook-ups at camp sites and allowing you to pick the best spots! Parking: Rhubarb is normally parked in a quiet residential street. There is free on street parking available a 5-10 minute walk away. The parking around our street is 4 hours paid max. Rhubarb is a 20 minute walk, 10 minute bus or 5 minute taxi ride from Waverley Station, and the same distance from the tram stop from the airport, hirers can get off at the top of Leith Walk. It’s a 30 minute taxi ride from the airport (time of day dependent). Pick up could be arranged depending on time and date, and needs to be arranged ahead of time. Cooking Equipment: Rhubarb comes with everything you'll need for cooking on your trip; pots, pans, cutlery, a cafetiere, 7x enamel mugs, 4x enamel plates, 4x enamel bowls and 1 hot flask for hikes. There are 2 gas hob rings internally and a 2L Le Creuset stove top kettle. Rhubarb has a fantastic 45L fridge with an optional freezer compartment. Water and Sanitation: Rhubarb has a drying room which the heating system vents into - to dry wetsuits, jackets, shoes and dog towels! This is also good for privacy if you choose to hire the toilet. A 10L removable tank of water is available under the sink with a foot pump and 10L removable waste tank. There is no drinking water tank - we recommend bringing big bottles/purchasing. Type of Heating: Rhubarb has a diesel heater with temperature controls next to the bed to keep you warm and cosy all year round - very much needed in Scotland! The heating goes into the main cabin and the drying room. Rhubarb also comes with thermal insulated curtains to keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter. A remote controlled Maxx Air fan has been installed to allow cooling and ventilation all year round. Pet Information: Well behaved animals are allowed. But please only a maximum 2 due to space and ability to strap them in safely when driving. Extra Information: Rhubarb is an extra tall van with almost a full sized double bed to allow for taller 6ft+ to be comfortable while sleeping. Her high ceilings make her feel very spacious and like a small hotel room. Rhubarb has lots of extra storage - under the bed (accessed via the rear or from the main living space) Conversion Story: I have hired a few campervans and always knew I wanted my own and would love for others to experience it! It really had to be comfortable and a home from home to explore Scotland and the UK. This van is a self-made passion, I didn't like anything pre-made so decided to do it all myself. It has been crafted to be a luxurious camper, ready to explore all of Scotland and be comfortable doing it.
