About the area: Bumblebee lives in Ashton, Bristol and is parked on a quiet residential street. Close by are the Mendips, Brecon Beacons and the Southern edge of the Cambrians in Mid Wales, there you can enjoy stunning natural beauty and some epic walks. For surfers looking for waves, hit up North Devon or the Gower Peninsula. Description of Beds: Bumblebee can sleep 2 adults. There is one full size double bed, complete with comfy bedding, pillows and throws. Description of Seating: Bumblebee seats 5 people in the belted seats, 3 in the front and 2 in the cab all with headrests. There is Isofix in the cab seats. At meal times the crew cab seats are used to sit and gather around the removable table. Description of Electrical Setup: Bumblebee has 2 x 120Ah leisure batteries charged via the 120w solar panel, and a split charger that charges while you drive, plus a solar charge controller. There is an external mains hook up for use at campsites. A Victron energy blue smart charger and Victron Energy Orion-Tr Smart Non-Isolated DC/DC Charger. Bumblebee has 5 x USB charging points at various points throughout and 2 x 3 pin 230v sockets at the rear, Parking: Hirers can park at a secure location where bumblebee normally sleeps. You are welcome to leave your car in his normal spot. If you come by train, we can collect you from Bedminster station. Cooking Equipment: Experience al-fresco dining with Bumblebee’s exterior gas connection and Campingaz Griddle, perfect for a sizzling BBQ under the open sky. Inside the van you’ll find crockery and cutlery for 4 diners, plus tongs, serving spoons, and everything you'll need for cooking. If you prefer to cook indoors the van has 2 gas hobs which can be utilised. Water and Sanitation: Bumblebee doesn't have a hot water boiler so hot water is provided via boiling the kettle. There is a Porta Potty 365 within the toilet enclosure. There is an 80 litre freshwater tank, stored in the usual spare-wheel carrier at the back. Audio Equipment: Bumblebee has a factory fit stereo in the front with USB and 3.5mm jack auxiliary inputs. We also have a Minirig 3 portable bluetooth speaker (made in Bristol no-less) so you can play music in the dining / living area of the van when it's stationary. Type of Heating: Bumblebee has a propex heater which runs off the underslung LPG tank. There are 2 outlets into the van, this has been tried and tested in sub zero temperatures routinely through the winter of 2022 so you can be sure it's highly effective! Pet Information: Bumblebee is pet friendly. Extra Information: We love wood and timber so wanted to use that where we could in the build. The toilet cubicle is from recycled pallet wood and the extended work top from recycled kitchen worktop. Conversion Story: Bumblebee began his life as a humble DHL van (albeit one with air-con in the cab). He was converted in 3 stages starting in 2022 by Wildtracks Campervans in Portbury, Bristol. We worked with them to create a layout that worked for us, being able to use the van day to day to transport 4 humans around, but a comfortable, readily equipped camper for us to go away as a couple.
