About the Campervan

About the area: Maureen is Located in Doncaster, South Yorkshire just off junction 4 of the M18. Located just a short drive to the North Yorkshire moors, the East Coast and the Peak District all offering amazing facilities and views. Maureen averages 28 mpg fully laden, so you’ll get plenty of travel for a tank. Description of Beds: Maureen has a full sized double bed in the rear (135cm x 190cm) with a whopping 11" thick memory foam mattress ensuring a great nights sleep. The smaller bed is 180cm x 90cm with a comfortable 4" thick foam mattress, this bed also converts to a table and seating area with 4" thick cushions so no numb bums! Description of Seating: Maureen has 3 belted seats in the front including headrests and arm support for the driver. The middle seat can fold flat to make extra cup holders and to store road snacks. There is a separate seating area in the back which can also accommodate 3 people. Description of Electrical Setup: Maureen is fully off-grid capable, with a 400w solar panel on the roof, and B2B charging which charges the batteries as you drive. There is a 540ah battery bank with a mains charger hook-up for use on campsites and 4x 240v sockets for use with shore power. There are 2x 12v sockets and 6x usb outlets throughout the living area, all of which run on 12v. Even in poor weather and heavy usage, 7 nights Maureen easily powers 7 nights off-grid, potentially longer if the sun comes out. Parking: There is on street parking outside to leave your vehicle, while you travel in Maureen. Parking is at the owners risk but it is a safe and quiet dead end street. Collection can be arranged from Doncaster Interchange Station subject to prior arrangement and availability. Cooking Equipment: Maureen has everything you need to cook up a feast, there are 3x large plates, 3x small plates, 3x cups, all the cutlery and utensils you will need, a stove top kettle, frying pan, saucepan, large beakers, plastic wine glasses, a 60L fridge/freezer and the all important bottle opener! Water and Sanitation: 57 litres of filtered fresh water feeds the cold tap in the kitchen. The portable grey water tank can be wheeled into place once the van is parked and has a 40 litre capacity. There is a 12v shower under the bed that can be used with cold water or water that has been heated in front of the diesel heater for an hour. Audio Equipment: Maureen has factory fitted bluetooth audio and calling in the front along with sat nav. A generic phone holder is also on the dash to use google maps on your phone. The living area has a bluetooth audio system that runs from the leisure batteries. Type of Heating: You will stay toasty warm in Maureen with a 2Kw diesel heater controlled very simply by selecting settings 1 to 6. The cab also has aircon while you're driving. Pet Information: Small well behaved pets are welcome in Maureen, including dogs up to Staffy size, we kindly ask that no pets are allowed on the bed and only clean paws on the seating area. Conversion Story: Maureen was built from scratch, previously a standard panel van that spent its life on the motorway delivering machinery. The cladding inside gives it a log cabin feel, most importantly for my wife has an inbuilt, decent kitchen as she loves to cook. The kitchen is almost 1m tall so no crouching, and 600mm deep. We opted for no overhead storage to keep the van feeling roomy, instead we have lots of storage underneath the kitchen, beneath the bed and a full height storage locker. Maureen has only recently been finished but we have been using it from the moment it had a mattress and a heater. We have had family trips to Cornwall, Scotland and Wales many times. We're a young at heart couple and love this van and the freedom it gives us. We regularly go away and tow the motorcycle behind in a trailer, set up camp and go exploring for the day (you are welcome to tow your own trailer). Maureen is easy to drive, even when loaded up to the rafters, nice light steering, a light clutch and a silky smooth gearbox.
