El Santo

About the area: El Santo is based in Leicester, in the very centre of the country. Upon first glance it may look like you're really far from the sea, but actually it means you're close to everything! Leicester itself is worth exploring, you can check out the world’s first Desi Pub, and the many beautiful locations around Leicestershire including Bradgate Park, Watermead, and Market Harborough. El Santo itself is situated on a cul-de-sac in suburbia, alongside a small Romanian street dog named Dobby and two very sassy princesses who insisted on being in the photos. Description of Beds: El Santo sleeps up to 4 people; 2 adults downstairs and 2 kids or 1 small adult in the bunk area. The downstairs bed has a full width rock ‘n roll bed (147 cm x 188 cm) with 3 inch foam. The bunk, when fully extended, is 122 cm x 135 cm and can fit 2 kids or one small adult diagonally. If you don't require the bunk bed, you can use this area as extra storage space. Description of Seating: El Santo has 6 belted passenger seats. There are 3 seats with three point seatbelts in the cab area and 3 seats with three point seatbelts on the MOT compliant rock n roll bed in the rear. El Santo can sleep 4 and 4 people can fit sociably in the main living space. Description of Electrical Setup: El Santo has a 12v leisure battery that charges when the van is running via a split charger or when hooked up at a campsite. There are 3 USB charging points in the van for keeping your devices topped up. The 6 LED lights in the roof will keep El Santo well lit even on the darkest night. A 240v electric hook-up is available to charge the 12v leisure battery and power the fridge (if required), there are no 3 pin 240v outlets provided. The hook up point is located under the bonnet which can be fully closed when hooked up. The 12v leisure battery system is good for a few days off grid without any charging and can be topped up easily by driving the van. Parking: If you drive to collect El Santo, you are welcome to leave your car in the van's usual spot on the drive, behind a gate. Cooking Equipment: El Santo comes with everything you need to cook for the whole family including; a frying pan, wok, small saucepan, sieve, small hot pot, 5 large camping plates, 4 camping mugs, 1 small jug, 6 camping bowls, 6 plastic breakfast bowls, 6 small plastic plates, 5 plastic beakers, 1 bamboo kids mug, 4 forks, 4 knives, 4 spoons, 4 tea spoons, can opener, scissors, peeler, tongs, spatula, serving spoon, 4 sharp knives, hob lighter, hob kettle, hob moka pot, chopping board, and tray. El Santo has a single hob burner in the van and a single hob camping stove for outside cooking. There is also a top opening compressor fridge that runs off the 12v leisure battery or hook-up depending on your situation, it is located in a drawer under the cutlery drawer. Water and Sanitation: El Santo has a 12 litre water tank that supplies the tap next to the sink via a switched water pump. The sink drains into a separate 12 litre waste water tank. Both water tanks are situated in the cupboard under the gas hob. Audio Equipment: El Santo comes with a radio with a CD player in the cab for when you are driving, with a Bluetooth connector/USB charger for charging and streaming your favourite tunes on your journey. A rechargeable Bluetooth speaker is available in the rear for when you are camping. Type of Heating: El Santo has a diesel heater that runs directly from the vans fuel tank. Pet Information: El Santo accepts well trained small to medium sized dogs only. Please keep them off the seat covers, we recommend placing your dog's bed on the floor next to the bed or in the cab area. Extra Information : El Santo’s conversion was an organic handmade and sustainable process. Every piece of wood, fabric and fixture has been hand crafted and either pre-loved, upcycled, repurposed or sustainably sourced. The plywood kitchen unit is made of locally sourced off cuts that would have gone to scrap. The seat coverings were curtains from a carboot sale, hand dyed, painted and fixed by hand. The sink is an old sweet bowl, El Santo's sign is a carboot skateboard painted by Rosie, as are all the shrines and decorations and the mirror used to be the door of a second hand cabinet. Conversion Story: El Santo’s owners are the Well’s family - Rosie is an artist/illustrator who has been running her own business for five years with help from 6 year old daughter Ramona (who is very good at unicorns). After converting a T4 during lockdown, Dave and Rosie had their second daughter Lola and realised it was only fair to get her in on the action; a family collaboration of Dave's engineering and Rosie's love of creativity. In August 2023 a completely bare El Santo was purchased! The conversion was hand built by Dave and his dad and hand painted by Rosie. El Santo is a uniquely themed camper that provides an experience like no other. With that in mind, and Rosie's obsession with Mexican folk art and culture, it seemed only right to make Lola's first camper the original star of Lucha Libre, the saint, El Santo.
