About the area: Emerald is based in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland - explore the Emerald Isle at your pace. Your journey begins as soon as you pick Emerald up from us where the mountains sweep down to the sea in Kilkeel, the capital of Mourne. You don't have to travel far to enjoy a hike in the Mourne mountains or a dander along Cranfield beach, Northern Ireland's most southerly point. Board the Carlingford Lough Ferry, just five minutes away and begin your tour of Ireland's rugged coastlines starting with the Cooley coast. Emerald is also ideally situated to discover more of inland Ireland and spend a city break in Belfast, or continue a little further to find yourself traversing the stunning Causeway Coast or roadtripping Ireland's famous Wild Atlantic Way. Your options are endless with Emerald. Description of Beds: Emerald’s seating area easily converts into a bed at night which sleeps two people. When converting the seating area into a full bed, mattress protectors (stored under seats) should be used to protect seats. Please note, bedding is not included but can be added on as an extra. Description of Seating: Emerald has three belted seats in the front with headrests, including the driver's. The generous dining area seats five people, perfect for enjoying a coffee in between visiting beaches or socialising around a board game on a wet afternoon. The 360 swivel table comes in very handy for any occasion. Description of Electrical Setup: Emerald is fitted with a 110Ah battery which charges when the van is running, as well as the 170 Watt solar panel. There are multiple USB charging points including two conveniently located above the seating/bed set up. Emerald functions fully off-grid so you can explore the most remote parts of the island without worrying about power. Parking: Emerald stays in a quiet, secure farm in the countryside of Kilkeel, and you are welcome to leave your car in her space while you are away. Cooking Equipment: Emerald includes one easy to use induction hob as well as a single gas burner that you can use to cook outside. Included in Emerald is a whistling kettle, a saucepan, chopping board, cutlery for four, cups, mugs, plates and bowls for four and a selection of cooking utensils. The large worktop area and 360 swivel table makes for convenient food preparation. A 16-litre mini fridge keeps food fresh and drinks cool. Water and Sanitation: There are two 10-litre removable water tanks in Emerald that are easily accessible and supply water to the sink via a pump. Emerald even has an electric water heater, and the extendable kitchen tap and means you can rinse the sand off before stepping in the van. Audio Equipment: Emerald has a bluetooth radio which you can connect to easily and enjoy your road trip playlist. There is also the option for CDs. We would recommend you bring your own speaker should you wish to listen to music whilst not on the road. Type of Heating: Whilst Emerald has no heating, but she is well insulated and will keep you warm no matter the weather. Pet Information: Sorry, Emerald is currently only for human travellers. Conversion Story: Emerald began life as a work van with a few war wounds. After many months of insulating, fitting units, a few new parts and a fresh coat of paint, Emerald was ready for exploration. Whilst Emerald is purpose built, we hope you will find it a comfortable, relaxing space where spending time indoors is as enjoyable as outdoors.
