Swampy

About the area: Swampy is located between Woking and Ashford in Surrey. It's easy to collect him from London and head off on your journey from there. There are plenty of days out to be had nearby including at Hampton Court, Windsor Palace or the North Downs. Description of Beds: Swampy has a full sized double bed. The addition of the flares on the side of the van means the sleeping space is the same as a regular double bed, creating a comfortable sleeping environment for all. 6ft people need not worry about being cramped up. Description of Seating: Swampy has three seats in the front of the van. The dinette in the back does not have seat belts and is only for living in not travelling in, but it very comfortably seats 2 and would seat 4 smaller people at a squeeze. Description of Electrical Setup: Swampy is designed for off-grid living. It has a battery to battery charger for when the vehicle is in motion or can be hooked-up at a campsite. There are several well-placed double USB 12v sockets and several 240v double sockets that can be used when the 500w inverter is turned on, perfect for charging laptops or other small appliances. If you are hooked-up at a campsite, the 240v sockets have no problem powering anything you would regularly use in your home. Parking: Swampy is located in a residential area and there is plenty of parking on the street should you drive your own vehicle to pick the van up. Cooking Equipment: Making meals and eating comfortably in swampy is easy with the spacious kitchen. There is plenty of countertop space, a deep sink, a large fridge and a diesel cooktop. Included are with 4 bowls, plates and sets of cutlery, chopping boards, a variety of sharp knives, mugs, cups, and an espresso hand pump that makes great coffee and a 2-cup French press. Water and Sanitation: Life on the road with Swampy is very comfortable, there is hot water, a shower, a flushing cassette toilet and a deep sink. The cassette toilet easily lasts a long weekend before it needs emptying. In the rear of the van there is a tap for attaching a hose should you need it. Audio Equipment: Swampy is equipped with a Sony DAB radio that features plugin apple carplay and android auto. Type of Heating: Swampy was originally designed for skiing, so has an amazing diesel heater that is thermostat controlled and pumps hot air throughout the van including into the shower enclosure where drying wet gear is possible. Conversion Story: Swampy has come a long way over the past two years, from a typical white van to a forest green home on wheels. I am a joiner by trade and spent several years building tiny homes and converting school buses professionally in Canada. I came back to the UK and wanted to make an off-grid van that would be winter-ready to make ski touring a possibility. The result is modern, clean and spacious, it is a van that doesn't require any packing up before you head to the next campsite and is a very relaxing place to spend time.
