About the Campervan

About the area: Bertie lives in the heart of the Cotswolds, just a short drive from Cheltenham and Gloucester. Bertie opens the door to exploring this beautiful part of the English countryside, and just a short drive away are the picturesque Cotswold Villages of Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Campden, Broadway and Bourton-on-the-Water. Bertie is perfectly located for a Cotswold adventure, with hikes and farm shops aplenty. However, with the freedom of a campervan, and excellent nearby motorway connections, Bertie provides you the ability to reach out further across the UK and abroad. Description of Beds: Bertie can sleep 3 people; 2 in the fixed queen-sized double bed (this is genuinely more comfortable than my own bed), and 1 on the sofa bed (approx 1.8m long). Bertie is ideal for 2 adults and a child. Bertie has been thoughtfully designed with easy access to USB and 240V plug sockets on both sides of the bed to ensure you always have charge! Description of Seating: Bertie has three belted seats in the cab (including the driver), with an isofix point on the middle passenger seat. In the living area there is a long sofa-style bench seat which could comfortably seat two, and outdoors camping seats. Description of Electrical Setup: Bertie is set up for both on and off-grid exploring. Bertie is fitted with a 360Ah leisure battery, powered by a 240W solar panel, and an alternator charger that allows unlimited power supply whilst on the road. Bertie also has an external electric hook-up for when you are on campsites. Bertie has been installed with a 12V and 240V electric system with multiple plug sockets (and built-in USB chargers) spread throughout the van so you can always stay powered! Parking: If you drive to collect Bertie, you are welcome to leave your vehicle in her normal spot on our drive. We live in a quiet, new-build estate and our driveway is monitored by a ring security system. Alternatively, there is a free public car park nearby. If you are travelling by public transport, there are routine commuter links to Gloucester and Cheltenham train stations with a regular bus service. Bertie's owners may be able to collect from the stations if pre-arranged. Cooking Equipment: Bertie has a fully equipped kitchen complete with a two-ring gas hob and electric cooker and has everything you need to cook up a feast. You will find a variety of cooking pans, a chopping board and knives alongside cutlery and utensils. For coffee, Bertie has both a cafetiere and a Bialetti for all your early-morning coffee needs. For al fresco dining, Bertie has a portable BBQ for outdoor evenings. Water and Sanitation: Bertie has been built to support 3 days of off-grid camping and has a full hot and cold running water system supplying a fully enclosed shower, kitchen sink and boiler. It has a 75L underslung water tank and a 70L waste water tank linked to a gas and 240v boiler which heats water for a fully enclosed shower within 10 mins! Wastewater is collected in an underslung tank and can be drained through an external release tap at disposal sites and campsites. For outdoor use, Bertie has a solar shower that can be connected to the outside of the van for more adventurous showering use! Audio Equipment: Bertie’s cab has a USB plug-in and Bluetooth system available so you can play your own music from the van speakers. In the back, a portable Bluetooth speaker is available for maximising the vibes when you're camping! Type of Heating: Bertie was designed with the ski slopes in mind. He was built to withstand the snow and cold with extra insulation throughout, thermal blinds and a built-in 5KW diesel heater (connected directly to the van's fuel tank) to keep you toasty and warm on the coldest of nights. For the summer months, Bertie has two Fiamma roof vents which create a refreshing through-flow of air. Pet Information: Our family has severe allergies to dogs, so unfortunately we are unable to allow any pets within Bertie. Conversion Story: Bertie began life as a delivery van (distinguishable yellow company). We bought Bertie after several years admiring the freedom and adventure that campervan’ing can give and our desire to constantly be in the ski mountains. Bertie was a self-built conversion allowing dedication and accuracy in achieving the best ski chaser possible! Bertie was designed to allow off-grid exploring in both the peak of summer and the coldest, snowy nights and is comfortably self-sufficient for 3 days off-grid. It’s a home on wheels wherever you take it. Extra Information:
We are collecting stickers for the cab-hatch to document all the places Bertie has been to. We would appreciate any additions when you are on your adventures! Bertie has an optional soft roof box and roof rack that can be installed before rental. This will increase storage capacity for more awkward items.

Warning: Drivers need to be aware that the total weight of driver, passengers and baggage must be below 320kg to keep the vehicle within its legal Max Allowed Mass (MAM) of 3500kg. This is below the Quirky Campers recommended payload of 370kg for a vehicle with 3 belted seats.

We had an amazing 3 day trip with Bertie! 3rd time using quirky, 1st van with a shower- would highly recommend the option of a warm shower in the evening which Bertie provided. Ash and Rachel were so helpful and accommodating and went above and beyond to answer any questions we had about the systems while on the trip. The bed was so comfortable and the van had plenty of room for the two of us, with loads of storage room that allowed to unpack our stuff and really settle in for the weekend. Despite her size, Bertie was a dream to drive and we were able to cruise around the Welsh country lanes keeping ourselves off the beaten track for a true weekend escape We highly recommend and if we hadn’t caught the bug and bought our own van since the trip we would definitely be choosing Bertie again!! Thanks again Ash and Rachel 🚐
