About the area: Tarka is located in Totnes, Devon between the moor and the sea. Totnes itself is a small market town with an alternative vibe. Lots of independent shops and cafes. Lots to explore here and easy to have an active holiday with miles of walking and cycling trails along the River Dart, also perfect for kayak and SUP adventures. Totnes is also one of the few places in Devon that has designated overnight parking for campervans if you are on a budget/ don't want to stay in a campsite (48 hours max) situated along the River Dart next to a nature reserve. The perfect location for beautiful spots on the South West coast path. We can recommend some great campsites with sea views suitable for vans like Tarka. Description of Beds: Tarka sleeps 2 people comfortably. The bed is both wide and tall (190cm x 175cm) with an extra thick mattress - a bonus for anyone 6ft+ or those looking for a bit of comfort. During the day, the bed can be transformed into seating with a dining table. Description of Seating: There are three belted seats in the front (including the driver) with headrests. Description of Electrical Setup: Tarka comes equipped for off-grid travel including a 110ah leisure battery, 2 x 100W solar panels, 20 amp battery to battery charger and 2 USB sockets. The battery also charges while you drive as well as through the solar panels. Mains hook up is also available that powers standard 3-pin plugs. Parking: If you drive to collect Tarka there is a large driveway where you are welcome to park your car for the duration of your trip. Or we can pick up can be arranged from Totnes train station subject to availability. Kitchen Facilities: Tarka comes with a 2-burner gas hob as well as all the necessary items you would find in a standard kitchen including; a frying pan, saucepan, colander, chopping board, chopping knife, French coffee press, hob kettle and 4 x forks, knives, spoons, teaspoons, bowls, plates, glasses and mugs as well as various cooking utensils (and bottle opener!). All washing-up equipment and tea towels are also provided. Bathroom Facilities: Tarka has a 32-litre water tank that supplies water to the sink via a pump connected to the tap. It is refillable thanks to the water inlet on the side of the van. The wastewater tank has a capacity of 25 litres. There's also an outdoor solar shower (Nemo LX Pressure Shower) that you can use either by heating the water outside on a sunny day or using warm water from the kettle. The large capacity and foot pump provides good pressure. There is also a porta toilet on board if not parked on a site. Audio Equipment: Tarka has a radio system with auxiliary plug-in-point in the cab as well as 2 USB points with Bluetooth capabilities. A Bluetooth speaker for the living area can be provided on request. Type of Heating: Tarka has a very efficient diesel heater which will warm the living area up in less than 10 mins. Pet Information: Dogs are welcome. We request that dogs are not up on the furnishings or beddings without cover/ blanket. Conversion Story: Tarka began her campervan journey on Quirky as Tui before Sonja and Josh fell in love with her and bought her home to Totnes. She has been designed with comfort being the top priority and really feels like a home from home. We've added a few extras to make it more comfortable for off grid travel (solar shower) and a new heater. About the Owner: Sonja, Josh and our dog Wally love living in Devon and all that it offers for outdoor adventures. We enjoy going for a SUP and kayak on the River Dart and take Wally for long coastal walks. We are so lucky to have Tarka plus all these beautiful locations on our doorstep- in less then an hour we can have a view of the sea and the fire bowl lit and ready for sunset.
