Description of Local Area: Little Puffin the campervan is located in Lockerbie, on the edge of Scotland's newest proposed National Park, the Galloway Forest Park. It is a haven for wildlife and boasts one of the darkest skies in the UK. With many established hiking routes and several world-class mountain biking centers, you will never be bored! If you prefer to take things easy, take your time watching the enchanting local red deer, visit one of the 100+ castles in the area or take a tour of Scotland's only wood-fired whisky distillery in Moffat. Best of all, Little Puffin is in the perfect spot to pick up on your way to the famous NC500 and pass through some of Scotland's most breathtaking scenery. Description of Beds: Little Puffin sleeps up to 2 adults. During the day, the bed is folded away, maximising internal space. At night, you simply slide the bed out and unfold the mattress into a small double (120cm W x 188cm L). Bedding is included, unless you prefer to bring your own. Description of Seating: There are two belted seats (including the driver) with headrests. In the living space, there is a generous 2-seater sofa. Description of Electrical Setup: Get away from the hustle and bustle with Little Puffin’s off-grid setup. You’ll have plenty of power with the large solar panel and additional charging from the alternator to keep the battery charged. With a total of 6 USB charging points and 3 240v plugs, you can easily keep your devices fully charged. Parking: If driving to collect Little Puffin, you are welcome to park your car on our drive. Little Puffin is located just 10 minutes from the train station (West Coast line), 4 hours from London, 2.5 hours from Manchester and 10 minutes from the M6/M74. Kitchen Facilities: Cooking's a breeze in Little Puffin. This campervan comes with a fully kitted out kitchen - complete with a quick cook induction hob, microwave, kettle, fridge (with ice box), and sink with cold running water. If you prefer alfresco cooking, you can make use of the portable gas stove or optional Firebox and RidgeMonkey griddle. All your dining needs are covered, from a cafetiere in the mornings to supper and a glass of wine in the evening! Bathroom Facilities: Little Puffin has a 50-litre drinking water tank stored in the garage area that supplies cold water to the sink via an electric pump. There is a Flextail outdoor shower and pop-up shower tent available (water can be heated on the hob or kettle). The Portapotti is also included in your rental. This is stored in the garage and is accessed through the tambour door under the bed. Waste water is stored in the 65L underslung tank and can be emptied via the external tap at an approved disposal point. Audio Equipment: Little Puffin has a retro Bluetooth speaker/radio to listen to your own tunes. Type of Heating: Little Puffin is toasty warm even in the coldest of days, thanks to the top-of-the-line diesel heater and extensive insulation. Pet Information: Little Puffin is a pet-friendly campervan. Happy to house one small to medium well-behaved dog. Please note that dogs are not allowed on the bed. Conversion Story: Little Puffin started his life as a BT Openreach van. He came to us in June 24 when we started our conversion story. We built Little Puffin to be a cosy haven after long hikes on the hills, cliffs and beaches with our dog. About the Owner: We are Bruce & Tracey and this is our first campervan build, although we have previously renovated our cottage which was derelict. My campervan wishlist was a comfy conversion with plenty of storage space that was functional and easy to use. Bruce just wanted a van that didn't feel cramped and he could stand up in! We think we have an amazing little camper, and we hope you will love its quirky features. Extra Information: Like his namesake, Little Puffin is a compact campervan at just 5 metres; he is easy to drive & park without being cramped inside - a 6ft adult can stand up and lie straight in bed. We handmade all the woodwork, cabinets, handles and upholstery ourselves. It has a slightly nautical theme, as we enjoy spending time by the water. The dinosaurs are a nod to our fossil hunting on one of our favourite local beaches. Our favourite spot in the van is the sofa - perfect for grabbing a coffee, sliding the door open, and enjoying the view!
