2016 Fiat Ducato 2.3 MultiJet2 130 L3H2
2016 Fiat Ducato 2.3 MultiJet2 130 L3H2 2 Birth Off-grid Campervan.
Here for sale is a very unique professionally converted, fully off-grid campervan. This van is targeted at those who want the off-grid lifestyle however still want the ability to work, game or utilise heavy hitting electrical devices with no qualms. It’s also winter ready with full insulation and a Truma combi boiler for hot water and heating at the flick of a switch.
The van was purchased from David Eddowes Ltd who specialise in working vans near Huddersfield in June 2021. Since then it has been professionally converted into what you can see by ConvertMyVan in Darlington. In light of selling the van, I’ve just had a full major service conducted which included a manufacturer standard oil change and replacement oil, air, fuel and cabin filters. Along with this, an MOT was carried out and is valid until 21st June 2023. There were a couple advisories for slightly worn rear brake discs and slightly perished rear tyres, however I am happy to deduct the cost of these replacements from the cost of the van. The van will also come with a gas safety certificate and all manuals for the installed appliances.

As you can see, I designed the van to a high spec to allow for full-time computer work off-grid using a power hungry setup consisting of a top grade PC and external monitor. I was able to edit, game, and work all day and well into the night without comprise. When using a firestick in the monitor, I can literally watch anything all through the night as long as there was solar input during the daylight hours. Below I will breakdown each part of the conversion in more detail.
External:
There are 790W of solar panels mounted to the roof of the van, this is 2x 345W panels running in parallel. There is a Maxxair Deluxe fan mounted at the rear above the bed in a smokey grey colour to match the white and black aesthetics for the van. On the rear driver side panel, there is a 240V shoreline hook-up point, a water inlet point for filling the fresh water tank, and a boiler outlet from the Truma Combi 4E. On the passenger side underneath is the fresh and grey water taps for emptying the tanks. Underslung is a 66l fresh water tank and a 50l waste water tank. Beside these is a 20l LPG tank which feeds into the boiler and oven. As I wanted my privacy whilst working, I had installed 1x large black tinted window on either side of the van, the kitchen window can be slid open.
Kitchen:
The kitchen area has a 50l Dometic fridge/freezer which on this electrical setup can be run constantly. The oven is a Thetford Triplex which consists of an oven and 3 ring gas hobs, the gas is switched on and off via a control panel next to the sink. The sink is a stainless steel basin with a normal kitchen sink tap which is connected to a Fiamma Aqua 8 water pump, this is switched on and off via a switch next to the sink. There is also to gauges next to these switches which are used to see the water levels in both the fresh and waste water tanks. There is ample storage with 2 large overhead cupboards, two large under sink cupboards, and two smaller cupboards under the oven and above the fridge.
Working desk:
I had a desk installed so that I could work remotely from the van wherever I went. The desk runs from the bed all the way a quarter of the way through the sliding side door. There are 3 openings which I intended to turn into drawers, however I decided to keep them as they are so that I could fit more inside for storage rather than losing space to hinges/sliders etc. Above the desk is a large cupboard with an LED strip mounted beneath it. There is a monitor mounting arm fixed to the desk for either a monitor or a TV. There is a conveniently placed opening at the rear of the desk allowing for cables to run from the inverter to the devices on the desk. The inverter is located beneath the desk but for ease, I had an external on/off switch installed to the side of the bed so you don’t have to crawl under to turn the inverter on or off.
Electrics:
From the “external” paragraph, you can see that the power supply is pretty hefty, I wanted the electrics to be the standout part of the build as editing and gaming are my life. To that end I needed a setup that could handle a full gaming PC, external monitor and 3g/4g router consistently. The solar array feeds into an epever Tracer MPPT charge controller which then charges the 3x 200ah AGM batteries running in parallel to a total of a 600ah leisure battery setup. Having so much solar on the roof really was a game changer as I noticed that during sunny days/slightly overcast days, my batteries weren’t even being used and I was running purely off the solar supply and the batteries were still charging. For 240V usage, there is a 4000w pure sine wave inverter which includes 2x 240v outlets and 1x 5V 1A USB port. The entire solar setup was provided by Sunshine Solar who designed the bespoke setup specific for my requirements. There is a Sterling B2B Charger for charging whilst driving. For heating and hot water there’s a Truma Combi 4E which is controlled using a control panel mounted on the wall above the desk along with the MPPT control panel. The van also has a separate 240V electrical setup for when connected to shoreline power. When connected to shoreline there is a battery charger near the boiler that can be plugged in to charge the leisure batteries, also there are 7x 240V sockets and 2x 5V 1A USB ports available around the van that can only be used when connected via this way. In terms of lighting, there are 6 LED puck lights mounted to the ceiling, with LED strip lights mounted beneath the cupboards in the kitchen and above the desk, there is also a reading light by the bed.
Bed:
The bed is 175x135cm, I’m only 5’8 so this was perfect for me. The mattress is cut to size firm memory foam. Above the bed at the feet end is a full bed width shelf for storage. At the head end there is a small shelf mounted to the outside of the cupboard which is handy for phone and jewellery storage overnight, there is also a reading light that can be moved around and has two brightness settings and an integrated 5V 1A USB port.
Storage:
As mentioned in previous paragraphs, there is no shortage of storage in the van. There’s 3x overhead cupboards, 2x large under sink cupboards, 2x smaller cupboard above the fridge and below the oven, 3x desk openings and a bed width shelf above the bed. There is also a large garage section that extends across the width of the bed to the rear doors. Above the cab is a large storage area also.
I have been living in this van for almost 5 months full-time and could continue to do so for years to come, however I’m reluctantly having to sell as I’m taking on a new role that will see me traveling overseas for extended periods of time and quite frankly I don’t want it wasted sat in storage for 9/10 months of the year. I hope you love the looks of it as much as I love it, I don’t think I’ve missed anything off the description but in the off-chance I have, please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask. I’m happy to had a call or even a video call if you want to be shown round it virtually.
Many thanks
Steve
