Citroen Relay
The van was purchased as a new vehicle by me in August 2022. It therefore has 18 months of manufacturer’s warranty remaining. The van conversion was done by CamperDreamin.com and photos of the build can be seen on their website. (https://www.camperdreamin.com/lysahora)
They are a very professional converter who did a first-rate bespoke conversion which was completed in January 2023.
Before this van, I have owned a Volkswagen Transporter based camper. They are great vehicles but have very cramped living space and hardly any storage. The concept behind this vehicle was to build a van that was as economical as a Transporter (35 – 40 mpg) and that would easily ft into a parking space – but at the same time, offer much more living space and storage. It can be driven everyday as a run about, or driven across Europe with a month’s food supply and everything you need for comfortable touring.
Inside, there is a pop top roof which gives great headroom and also converts into a double bed. The bench seat also converts into a 2m long single bed (70cms wide). Up front, there’s seating for three.
There’s a 200W solar panel on the roof feeding into a 100Ah leisure battery. When the leisure battery is full, the solar keeps the main van battery topped up too. There’s an electrical hook-up which powers the mains sockets inside the van for running your accessories. The fridge runs off the leisure battery until you switch over to mains once you’re on the hook-up. The tyres have been changes for a slightly larger size with more grip.
The Eberspacher diesel heater is located under one side of the bench seat and the electrical fuse panel under the other side. There is masses of space under the single seat. There’s a large slide out fridge and a two hob gas stove that runs on cans of gas. The van weighs 2800 kgs fully loaded with a full tank of fuel which is 200kgs under the limit.
At the rear of the van there is a large storage area/dog bed. A large space for tables and chairs and all other camping paraphernalia. There’s a colour reversing camera fixed to the windscreen.
I’ve done a walkaround video that you can see on YouTube –
