Detailed Information
Vehicle Description

Extremely rare, low mileage XLWB high top VW Crafter in custom teal blue. I am yet to see another one this colour on the road as she was custom painted by the original owner – no more two a penny white peugeot boxers, she really does stand out!

Fully off-grid with 400w of solar panels on the roof and a 230Ah leisure battery which charges from both the solar and the alternator when driving. Has a Renogy solar controller unit with bluetooth which connects to an app on your phone so you can monitor the input/output if you want to get geeky 🤓 I have never run out of juice, even when parked up for over a week in Scotland in winter. She has an inverter too for charging laptops and two USB ports by the bed to charge your phone/watch/devices. Full LED lighting front to rear with touch off-on lights and extra lighting by the sliding door so you can tailor the light level to suit you eg, everything on for cooking or only one or two lights on when you’re watching a movie in bed.

Has an AMAZING diesel heater under the passenger seat which is connected to the main fuel tank and can be controlled via the control panel or the keyring remote – perfect to turn it on when you CBA to get out of bed! It’s really powerful and gets the van toasty in no time at all. You can set a timer and optimum temperature as well as a thermostat. I’ve got the manual which explains more but we just turned it on when we wanted it so haven’t explored this option that much.

She’s unusual in that she’s got a full length double bed going lengthways, instead of widthways unlike most vans. This was really important to us as we didn’t want to be sleeping on a diagonal or scrunched up and I like to stretch my legs out over the end of the bed!

Fully insulated throughout with thermal full length cab blinds and magnetic window covers. Lots and lots of storage in the wardrobes, cupboards, and under the bed/garage area. Really large sink great for washing pans (why are most van sinks so tiny and useless?) Not currently connected to a pump but there’s the wiring to do so should you want this. The water drains into a 25l grey water tank. Large cab that you can stand up in. A lot of vans have a shelf over the cab so you can barely move and because Alice is so spacious, we didn’t feel we needed this and really appreciate the extra headroom.

Also has a Fiamma Roof Fan, connected up to the leisure battery which can blow in or out and has several speed settings. And a Midi HiKi Skylight which has a built in blackout blind, fly mesh and can be opened to let more air in. Perfect for summer days or stargazing at night.

It has a fridge/freezer wired into the leisure battery too from Just Kampers – bought spring 2022 and still in as new condition.

Side windows have been limo tinted for privacy so you can have the curtains open, the lights on and people still can’t see in but you can see out!

2008 XLWB VW Crafter
MOT due July 2023
Last full service inc. oil change:
May 2022
Lots of service history and receipts. Any issues dealt with promptly as this is my work van so I can’t afford to be on the side of the road.
Weighs 3100kg with me, a full tank of fuel, drinking water and a garage full to the brim with gear – would probably be 2800-2900kg unladen.
Has a limiter set to 65mph. I toyed with taking this off but actually its quite useful for road trips and means you don’t have to worry about speeding on motorways. Just cruise at a nice 65 and enjoy the views!
Really reliable engine, not had any issues and has been up and down the country. Very enjoyable drive. Has very comfy Range Rover Sport electric black leather seats installed which are reclinable too.

Faults:
– Small amount of rust on bottom of back right door and a few dents to side door (I’ve booked her into a bodyshop to have this fixed at the end of March)
– Some small dings and scratches to paintwork as to be expected from a 2008 panel van
– Passenger window motor broke. I have the new one in a box
– Not an insta-van, but priced accordingly, price will increase over Spring as I work through this list
