Bluebird
Bus is in very good condition, with a satin ivory finish, smart trim & wheel paint work.
The Bus does not have a MOT (can be discussed) however engine has been run periodically in situe.
Advise moving her on a lorry to chosen destination to use as a static vehicle.
Engine is in good condition, 6L Cummin’s diesel, with automatic transmission.
Registered as a commerical Bus, appropriate license neccessary.
Itโs always felt like we nailed the layout in this space, it feels open everywhere, yet everything has its space.
The smooth curved lime washed walls are an organic backdrop for your favourite pieces. We love filling Arizona with textured fabrics, baskets & indoor plants. Its these simpe touches that go along way, nice bedding and ceramics are all you really need to style her.
Business Opportunity / Investment?
The Bus would be a wonderful Business venture, whether you find a new or exisiting site & obtain a glamping license or have the space outside your house to run as an air bnb. Weโve only ever had positive feedback and people have enjoyed staying in a quirky, relaxing place.
At peak season we have rented the bus for ยฃ180 a night and Arizona has always sold out.
If you rented her at an average of 4 nights a week for 6 months thats ยฃ17,280.
At full capacity you could earn ยฃ30,240 & ofcourse you could extend the season.
Due to solar capacity it’s extremley low cost to use her during the tourist season.
It may be difficult to run as a guesthouse during winter unless you have a permenant 240V hook up (as you may have to assist guests regularly – we’ve been in her full time for four winters).
ENTRANCE
As you walk into the Bus you will see the original steering wheel, a large oak shoe rack.
The space is sectioned of by insulated interior walls & a curtain which also help keep the Bus warmer in the cooler months (no longer slatted walls).
KITCHEN
Next up is the large kitchen, a large and open space with a kitchen bigger than most small spaces.
The kitchen cabinets are now birch ply (not slatted) and 1.9m long, 70cm deep and 90cm high.
They house the large electric oven, 4 burner induction hob and fridge.
There is a large 55 x 45 x 25 cm sunken ceramic kitchen sink with brass taps & splash back.
The countertops are a light grey microcement, which is lightweight & durable, with slight flexbility so suitable for driving.
There is a large spice rack, cuttlery draw, draws and cupboards and a display shelf either side.
LIVING SPACE
On from the kitchen is the is the open plan living space, with the large skylights and panoramic windows its very light and open.
It now has a solid oak sofa that is 7ft long with foam & sheeps wool upholstery, 75cm deep. There is also an extra 60x60cm seat you can use as a foot rest / L shaped sofa / seat elsewhere.
This sits opposite the glass fronted log burner, the gap between logburner and sofa is about 85cm.
There is an organic wooden desk the width of the internal wall (155cm) x 46cmm deep and 85cm high, with two bar stools. This is a lovely wall to decorate.
As you walk around to the back of the bus there is a narrow cupboard that houses the electrics.
The floors are painted birch ply.
Different areas have controlled isolated lighting.
BATHROOM
The second half of the bus leads to the bedroom / bathroom, a discrete ensuite to the bedroom, easily tucked away behind the slatted door.
The basin, mirror & vanity cupboard are behind the โdesk wallโ making the corridor feel bigger in the bedroom.
We currently use a home made compost toilet but are exploring other options to make using the toilet an even easier process.
Currently the urine is divirted out through a pipe into the nature and the waste is collected in a bucket, which you need to cover with sawdust / coconut fibre and then lift out and empty into chosen place. We have a designated compost area quite far from the Bus.
Weโre so glad we found a way to fit this Japanese style deep soaking bath, its actually over one of the wheel arches, theres a small step up to it, under which is a little storage.
Itโs the perfect place to relax during the winter months, or have your daily shower seated in here. Thereโs an opening window next to the bath and a shelf for treasures.
BEDROOM
Through a wide hallway from the ensuite is a simple bedroom, the bed over the engine bay.
There is a hanging wardrobe that pulls out on a draw next to the bed. In this full length cupboard is also where the instant gas boiler is stored, the external vent can get hot. There is a huge wardrobe opposite the bath, also over a wheel arch. This has shelves and we store the batteries at the bottom, always run the 12v vents here to keep cool and ventilated when using 240v power.
WINDOWS/ SKYLIGHTS
We replaced all but two of the original windows to fixed, big and clear double glazed windows so you have a panoramic view out of the bus and this keeps it warm. There are white linen curtains with brass rails around. There are opening skylights, a window in the cab and bathroom, and front and back doors.
As the cab needs its original single glazed windscreen, this is a cold spot and in winter months sometimes needs help of a de-humidifier/additional heat source.
There is a large opening skylight in the front and back of the bus, fitted this summer 2024.
ELECTRICS
There are x4 400 watt solar panels bolted onto the roof, they provide lots of renewable energy & heavily reduce living costs april-october as most appliances are electric & efficent. There are 240v plug sockets in the bedroom, living room & kitchen. If you have access to 240v thats amazing because then you can just hook up to charge the two 300ah lithium batteries or keep hooked up in the winter months. Alternativley if youโre using the oven in the winter we usually have to run a generator outside to keep the batteries topped up.
The batteries are joined in series so they are 24v x 300ah = 7200watts of stored energy when full. The reason its 24v is to make it more effieicent when converting to 240v via the inverter. It is also converted to 12v for all the internal lighting, usbs etc.
The appliances we have chosen are all a lower energy draw and have selected A+ where possible.
The inverter is a Victron Multiplus 3000kva which handles solar/generator/shore input as well as all the outputs to appliances. Victron are always coming out with updates which are sourced via their app. All your solar history is available here too.
The inverter is in a cupboard near the desk so its easy to see your current state of charge and to control the input / output of electrics.
This is one thing you have to keep in mind living in the bus or checking on for guests, if you run out you wonโt have lights, cooking or heating until they charge again.
HEATING
We have a lovely and efficient wood burning stove in the living room, a diesel heater in the bedroom for a winter boost and a instant gas boiler for hot water.
We generally donโt use any heating april-september. You can cook ontop of a roaring fire as the flu extends out the back of the burner.
This flu will need detaching for transport.
The diesel heater feeds into a tank underneath the bus, this is clear so that you can see the level of fuel and isnโt attached to the bus. Simply fill up a jerrycan of diesel and top up when needed. Its very efficent.
The instant gas boiler is great and we had a new one installed march this year (2024)
It is connected to two interchangeable 19kg LPG gas bottles stored outside, not connected to the bus directly. We pay ยฃ50 to swap a bottle every 6-8 weeks.
WATER
To connect all systems to water simply attach to the external hook up point on the bus.
We have a mains supply, so we have run the neccessary pipework to attach to this, if you require a large re-fillable tank on site this is easily achieveable.
Waste water will also need pipework to drain the sinks & bath to appropriate place.
EXTERNAL
– engine bay at the back, easily accessed by lifting the back panel.
– โemergencyโ back door, rear drivers side
– one drivers seated belt in the cab with opening window
– insulated security โfront doorโ with key (not a classic sliding bus door)
– Painted a satin ivory colour
– additional โflapsโ created either side for option to store underneath the bus or in one of the extra storage containers
Please email and reach out with any more questions you may have, and to arrange a visit on our open weekend 12/13th October.
You can also have all of this information emailed via a brochure, this will be particularly helpful to note finer details, recommended transportation of the Bus and information as using the bus as a highly profitable business venture.
Thank you,
Chloe & Talib
The double bed sits over the engine bay, so you need a step to get up there. There are open shelves either side of the bed and storage under the bed too.
Thereโs a lovely view out of the window at the end of the bed, but we removed all surrounding windows so you can comortably prop yourself up and have privacy. There is a door here too which is lovley to have open on balmy summer evenings.
There are dimmable spotlights, two hanging woven lights, a usb charger & car port charger accessible next to the bed.
