Beautiful VW T6 Bonny Blue

We have come to the sad conclusion it’s time to sell our beautiful van. We had this professionally converted by Jaibow Campers in 2020 to an incredibly high spec, making sure that it was the perfect van for all scenarios. It was to be our ‘forever van’ hence the huge investment in the specification – I didn’t count into that plan the rate at which boys grow and we now all struggle to fit in which means it’s time to pull myself together and go for something bigger.

The Van
The van is a tailgate T6 in starlight blue metallic paint, we spent a long time find the right one for the conversion and it had to be low mileage, have steering wheel controls, and most importantly aircon. It has black alloy wheels, black side bars and a colour coded spoiler on the back. We had cobra 40mm lowering springs fitted at the same time as the conversion. There is also a detachable tow bar and electrics which we only used to attach a tow bar mounted bike rack. We also had upgraded headlight units and side repeaters fitted, along with a few other tasteful styling modifications.

The van is not automatic but facebook wont give me any other option when listing it!

The roof is a coloured coded HiLo Sport roof with black canvas (with the zip out option so you can sit in the pop top and enjoy the view if you want!), there are three windows in the pop top which also have mosquito net options so you can let the air in when its warm without ending up full of flies. Other than the exceptional quality of the roof, we chose it as it was the lowest sitting one when shut which means that there are no issues with beach carparks or even multi-story carparks, it also keeps the van looking as it should without a big bulge on top and cuts down on wind noise. The black canvas is brilliant as it is blackout meaning the kids sleeping in the roof don’t get woken up at 5am when the sun comes up.

The van has a Reimo Multi-Rail – the rail is one of the most versatile awning rails on the market. It acts not only a multi-purpose van rail (you can attach awnings and canopys with a kador strip or with a pole and clamp), but also a gutter, thanks to its integrated grooves which allow your van to disperse rainwater easily. This means that you can open the doors of your vehicle without rain dripping on your head- it is instead channelled to the front and rear ends of the rail.

The van is fully insulated with sound deadening, fire resistant, and waterproof insulation. In addition to the living space, the cab has also been sound deadened which makes a huge difference on long trips compared to a standard van.

There are three seats in the front and two in the back. The back also has isofix points.

One of the best things we did was having the Titan bed fitted on the Vari Mount Rail System, this allows the rear sets to be slid forwards so that rear passengers aren’t so far away from the driver (very handy with kids) whilst also allowing for a huge boot space. This was a game changer for long journeys with the kids compared to the T6 we had previously.

For cooking and heating we decided to have an underslung Propex tank installed to run the hob and the heating, rather than having a gas bottle in the van and a diesel heater. Not only does this save space in the van, but it is a lot cheaper and easier, each tank fill lasts us a full season and costs around £7-8. So we can cook outside we had an external gas point fitted which we use to run a Cadac.
