The Solar Set-up –
The van has everything you need and more in order to live totally off-grid. We didn’t scrimp on the solar set-up, which has 12v and 240v sockets a-plenty! The van has two 275W solar panels, three 100Ah leisure batteries, a Victron pure sine wave inverter and Split-Charge system – all fitted and certified by a qualified electrician. Inside, the van is lit with four, 12v LED strip lights that each have two brightness settings.
The Practical Stuff –
In the back of the van is a large 90 litre clean water tank, which connects up to a gas heated outdoor shower that fits onto one of the back doors. It’s such an incredible feeling having a hot, outdoor shower and one of our favourite things about the van.
Also in the back of the van is a large gas locker, large enough for a 7kg bottle – above the gas locker is fitted a carbon monoxide and smoke alarm.
The storage capacity in the van is huge, the U-shaped bench seat is accessible from both inside the van and the back and has one side that is long enough for surfboards and surf/ fishing equipment, where the other side is split into three compartments, one of which houses a 30 x 45cm steel household safe that has been bolted through the floor and secured underneath the van.
The ‘wet’ store in the back of the van has non-slip, durable plastic matting, which we have also included in some of the interior cupboards too, to stop pans and cutlery sliding around whilst driving.
The Pretty Stuff –
The van has been converted with so much love and attention to detail and I’ve highlighted some of the best bits below, although it really does need to be seen to be fully appreciated.
The sides of the van are clad with white-washed tongue and groove boarding, that has been treated to stop bleeding and covers the insulation and vapour barrier. In the ceiling are two brand-new, opening Fiamma roof vents with fly screens.
The floor is high quality laminate, over ply and Kingspan insulation boards.
The U-shaped bench seat converts easily into a Super King-Size bed by removing the pine table and detachable leg, my personal record was just under 3 minutes including making up the bedding! The bed has bespoke memory foam cushions, made to fit the bed perfectly and ensure the best night’s sleep.
Opposite the 6-drawer unit with Perspex top for food preparation, the inbuilt Howdens kitchen includes super space-saving carousel cupboards and a tall cupboard that has been converted into a wardrobe with some really great hanging space. The kitchen also houses a Klarstein Mini-Fridge.
On the laminate worktop sits a sleek, black two burner mirrored glass gas hob and a beautiful old French jam-pan, made of copper and converted into a sink, with matte black and gold mixer-tap that gets hot water via the Campluxe gas water heater (sold separately, ask for more details).
Thank you for taking the time to check out our listing, please get in touch with any questions and sensible offers.
