VW Caravelle – T4
With a heavy heart, we are parting ways with our beloved T4 Caravelle. Our growing family requires a vehicle with additional seating.
Despite the high mileage of approximately 290,000, this T4 can be likened to ‘Trigger’s Broom’, having had the majority of its major parts replaced over recent years. This includes a refurbished engine last year, ensuring it runs as smoothly as it did in its prime.
For a vehicle of its age, it’s in an exceptional condition both mechanically and structurally. Visually (in my biased opinion) it looks incredible. The interior, however, could use a bit of TLC. I had plans to refurbish it, but time got the better of me.
With a small investment, this T4 has the potential to be transformed into a stunning van. I have no doubt that it will bring as much joy to its new owner as it has brought me.

Things to be aware of:
– Cooling fans removed in 2015 (ironically to increase air flow/cooling to the engine) never refitted due to continuing to perform well without
– Inside requires a bit of TLC to bring it upto the standard of the rest of the van
– Central locking does not work (each door requires a different key)
– Some loose wires in the heating system (quick fix however never made its way to the top of my fix list)
The internal conversion is fairly basic due to being converted on a tight budget many years ago. When I embarked on the upgrade project a few years ago the initial focus was on addressing the more essential elements, namely the mechanical and body work, which have been meticulously maintained and are in superb condition. Therefore, this van, with its sound mechanical and structural integrity, provides an excellent foundation for potential upgrades and enhancements to the interior. Investing in such improvements would undoubtedly be a worthwhile endeavour, given the van’s overall excellent condition.
