Me and my wife spent years professionally building narrow boats so during lockdown decided to build a campervan. The framework for the van is built with strips of 18mm birch ply, then sound deadening and insulation for a warm and quiet van. The fridge is a very efficient 80L compressor fridge with plenty of space for a few days off grid. The diesel heater is a 2kw Lavaner, widely considered the best of the Chinese diesel heaters (and twice the price) . The battery is a 320ah Lifepo4 leisure battery, providing more than enough power for almost a week off grid, it’s charged with a Renogy dcc50s powered by the alternator. On a trip through France and Switzerland we never dropped below 50% of the battery capacity.
The kitchen is custom built with plenty of storage. We have 2 x 20l containers for fresh water and a 20l waste water container under the sink. We have done removable container rather than a fixed because when traveling it’s much easier to take the container to a tap rather than trying to get a hose to a fixed container.
The fan is a maxx air fan, crucial when traveling in warm climates.
Full double mattress fixed bed. Also with a slight modification the seats are easily convertible to make a second small bed, we have the cushions to do this but we have never had the need.

Quirky loves this style means that Quirky Campers would potentially approve this vehicle for hiring. However, Quirky have not approved a Gas Safe certificate, a Weighbridge certificate, or the vehicle's electrics. Buyers must check these themselves. For some tips on what to look out for read this. If the listing has no Gas Safe certificate, no unladen weight and no electrical sign-off please proceed with caution!
Insurance options are available through our partner, Ripe Insurance.
