Converted 1954 German FK3000 Fire Engine

Vehicle Description
This truck came from the fire department in Fockbeck in Germany. It was imported into the UK in July 2017 where it was largely kept inside, was well maintained and is therefore in great condition. We purchased the truck in 2019 from an Events business that used it as a show vehicle. This truck was a pump vehicle, it did not carry water, only hoses etc. The pump is still on the vehicle and is an attractive feature. The drive to the pump has been disconnected but could easily be reconnected.

Before we started on the conversion, a replacment engine was fitted. It is a pretty bomb proof 1990s Mercedes 300d. All servicing has been undertaken with new filters, gear box oil change, antifreeze change, all brakes stripped and cleaned, all grease points done and replacement water pump and seals fitted. A corroded part of the exhaust was also fitted with a custom fitted replacement. This vehicle has an automatic gearbox and the bomb proof 300d engine is pretty economical. This vehicle is historic which means no road tax or MOT. The Mercedes engine had down 100,000 miles before being transferred to this vehicle. We have done no more than 500 miles a year since!

After all work was done we then converted it into a lovely quirky campervan. The reason for sale is that we have a 1 year old and baby number 2 is on the way, so this camper is just not getting the use it deserved. We are in Southampton.

Beds Description
Currently there is a massive king size bed to the rear with storage and pull out stove beneath.
The dining area could also be arranged so that it converts into small beds for children.

Conversion Description
The conversion has been done to keep all internal fixtures and fittings as they were.
Internal linings have been removed and fully insulated on the sides and roof. Sound dampening has also been added everywhere to reduce panel noise.
The interior is also equiped with teh following:
2 ring pull out gas hob with toaster and gas locker
Bluetooth Head Unit connected to Leisure Battery.

240v Mains Hook Up
240v Isolator
240v Fuse Board
Interior 12v LED strip lights
Large storage in rear beneath bed and also bench seating.
Bench seats convert into dining area.
Big Spotlight on Front Works as do the siren and flashing blues.

A GREAT CAMPER. If you are looking to get from A to B fast then this van is not for you. It will sit comfortably at 50/60 mph and can also do 70mph. It is all about the experience and the fun of driving a fire engine as well as the occasional trip for friends to Leaver’s Proms.
