Introducing Daphne!
Daphne has been my baby for the last 3 years taking me on adventures all over Britain and beyond.
A SWB VW Crafter she has covered 149,000 miles, 25,000 of which with me over the last 3 years.
Together we’ve explored every corner of Scotland, Wales, The South West and ventured as far as the furthest tip of Portugal last winter. She is the perfect adventure wagon for cruising the coast wherever you fancy.
She isn’t perfect but who is! Let’s start bad and get better. Her bodywork is not fantastic. She has a matching dent on either side from my early days of driving her which have never shown any signs of deterioration and have never bothered me. I also began the work for repainting her in September but the Cornish winter rolled around quicker than expected so I haven’t been able to paint her. She has had all her wee rust spots attended to but that’s as far as we got.
Mechanically she has never wanted for anything with me! Major service each year and flown through all her MOTs. I have receipts for all work I’ve had done on her. All tyres have plenty of life left in them with most recent service showing 4.5mm tread left. New brake pads and shoes fitted last year and a new battery a month ago. She’s a beauty and will go for another 150,000 easily and I had plans to see her there.
Now onto my favourite part, the conversion. Done by me and my dad over a 4 month period she is rather lovely. The electrics were fitted by a professional company, EcoWagons, who use marine grade electrics to guarantee longevity. Leisure battery is connected up to a 150w low profile solar panel on the roof which powers 4 spot lights, 22L alpicool fridge freezer, diesel heater and 6 usb sockets. Daphne also has a hookup outlet and a 240v plug socket for those bigger appliances when connected to shore power.
2 opening windows and space left to fit a third if wanted, mean it is stealthy without comprising on daylight.
Small kitchen with enough space for gas bottle, pots and pans and dry storage from B & Q finished with an oak worktop. Camping Gaz stove with 2 burners.
Third cupboard for clothes storage and contains the diesel heater at the bottom.
U shaped sofa which converts into a double bed finished with 6 inches of memory foam mattress. I have never slept as well anywhere as well as I have in Daphne. Under seat storage on both sides, I use one for duvet and pillows and the other for anything and everything.
Brand new cassette toilet contained in a box with a ‘junk’ drawer on top.
Garage area with waterproof wood built to house an inflatable SUP, along with a shelf for even more storage. Also here is the separate fuel tank for the heater.
I did a 4 month European road trip and had more than enough stuff for the entire trip.
2 levelling chocks and a hookup cable included.
Chinese diesel heater fitted by a professional company which heats Daphne up beautiful and ridiculously cheap. A 2 month trip to Scotland in winter and only used the one 10l tank.
Daphne is my favourite thing ever and I can’t believe I’m having to sell her already. Unfortunately personal circumstances forces the sale and I will cry when she leaves me.
Any further questions please ask I’ll answer everything.
